Congratulations Colonel. It seems that the topics that you chose to post are of interest well beyond your keyboard.

    Why do you read them?

  4. JohninMK says:

Because I find them interesting. Especially those that are specifically about your personal experiences or your take on events as seen through the filter of your knowledge.
To those of us who have had a pretty mundane life, in my case in the business world, yours could have come off the pages of a Boys Own book. When you write you have an easily read and fluid way with words. No doubt the requirements of some of your roles have played a part in that.
I find it fascinating that you have generated such a large following, most of whom must just read your blog, never commenting. Part of it may of course be the other commentators that you support, a really good decision on your part in my view, taking pressure off yourself.
But, I suspect that you should not underestimate the interest out here to learning about more of the non classified episodes in your life. Rather than just the albeit valuable but tantalizing snippets you slot in here and there.
Also, not being an American, I find it an interesting view of the USA.

I don’t remember that a lot of people were killed in the Hardy Boys books. I read them all as a boy. I am trying to get the government to let me publish a memoir. they are dragging their feet and I doubt it will happen.

    May you have 25million more.

Congratulations colonel, this is a great site you’ve developed. I appreciate your effort and believe it or not I’m glad to read differing opinions — there are some smart and interesting people who comment here. Your pithy rebukes can be quite entertaining too (she said, while ducking…).

  9. Jack says:

    Congratulations, Sir!

That’s 25 million times somebody’s clicked on the site and read some common sense. And learned a lot while they’re doing it.
I hope very much the memoirs get through, Colonel. All the way from Glubb Pasha to Pompeo, if it’s not sacrilege to mention both in the same breath. They have to be published.

  11. Congratulations, Sir. This is a great job!
