“Biden is a doorway, not a destination.” The People’s Charter

GLF

"The progressives acknowledge Biden wasn't their top choice, but they make the case he's far better than President Trump and they have a better shot of mobilizing pressure on him to adopt their agenda if he wins office. The People's Charter is the vehicle to organize for the election, to activate the base and hold Biden accountable if he wins, organizers say,

“We’ve always said that electing Joe Biden was a doorway, not a destination,” said Working Families Party National Director Maurice Mitchell in a statement. “The People’s Charter is that destination: a nation that cares for all of us, no matter what we look like, where we come from, or how much money is in our pockets.

"We’re going to beat Donald Trump on Nov. 3, and then we’re going to organize to make the vision outlined in the People’s Charter a reality," he added.

The agenda was borne out of the coronavirus pandemic as the Working Families Party set out to define a vision for COVID-19 relief while plotting a path for an economic recovery. The plan calls for canceling rent and banning foreclosures during the pandemic, retroactive hazard pay for essential workers, delaying school openings and extending $600 federal unemployment benefits.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.  People who have never run any substantial organization, have never made any money that was not given to them and who think that all that is needed for creation of a utopia is fervor and enthusiasm are preparing to run Old Joe around by the nose.  The street fighter cadres of hard core Marxists will inevitably seize control of the process and behind them will be the leftist plutocrats who see their opportunity to run all – ALL!   pl

Not to worry. Biden is a corrupt, senescent empty suit who will accomplish as much as he did during 30 years in the Senate…nothing. The big danger with Biden is more pointless and futile foreign interventions.
As for Kamala, she’ll be overwhelmed by the job and will flail about.
Either one will be better statesman and act more presidential than the current loose canon in the White House today.

  2. Eric Newhill says:

    Sir,
Your analysis is correct, of course. Biden is a Stygian doorway to a crazy world that his supporters by and large won’t like once they find themselves immersed in it. IMO, the push back will be in the form of secession/civil war.
My only hope at this point is that Biden is sufficiently uninspiring + CV19 fears that Democrats don’t bother to get out and vote. Also, crazy Nancy starting up with the 25th amendment crap might turn off a lot of moderate Democrats.
SWMBO and I are voting and we are voting Trump. Yet he has ticked me off by putting us all at risk by not toning it down enough to appeal to The Women. I mean at least cool it for a few months, like during the debate.
If Trump loses, he should have his family purchase controlling interests, if not total ownership, in all of the major media outlets. It is clear to me now that it is the media that, effectively, runs the country. With media control, anything can be accomplished. Without it, even the best will fail.

Biden is a floor mat and the progressives and the public sector unions will wipe their feet on him. That is why they picked Biden.
Plus the unions owe Kamala Harris for her corrupt sabotage of public pension reforms as AG in California. Twice she re-wrote ballot language to ensure public pension reforms put on the ballot legitimately by public initiative would not pass
Know what you are getting with the Biden Harris ticket – a floor mat and union-loving clean-up hit lady with a gallon drum full of bear spray.
Trump is the only thing right now standing between you and a national nightmare, like it or not.

  4. JM Gavin says:

    JohnH,
More pointless and futile foreign interventions are fine because Biden and Harris will be better statesman and act more presidential than the current loose canon in the White House today?
Ensure that you stop by the recruiter’s office today and sign on for some pointless and futile foreign interventions. I thoroughly enjoyed being in uniform for all of the pointless and futile foreign interventions of the last three decades. I’d hate for you to miss out.

Are you another “nice” person who doesn’t like Trump because he’s a “big meanie” who is confrontational to his enemies – including the media – and is not another focus-group driven empty suit?

  6. Deap says:

We are not voting for Trump any longer; we are voting for four more years of conservative principles. Trump delivers that. Are you going to trade that for four years of Biden-Harris.
This time the election is not about the man. It is about the continued right direction of this country.

Personally I’d like to see a few good hammer and sickles presented with their advertising (some would call it a manifesto). Yes, I know that the hammer and sickle symbolized proletarian unity between worker and peasant (the ones that weren’t shot or starved, that is) but it does recognise the importance or at least existence of manufacturing and agriculture. I know I’ll be disappointed.
These rate a vague line or two in Part III of the Manifesto; and indicates the importance the revolutionaries place on actual Production. Nil. Zero.
The rest is all about free money and forced wealth redistribution, which they know to be impossible. In other words it’s just Bait, and even though it looks like something the Symbionese Liberation Army would have photocopied and stuck on bus stops, some will fall for it.
If the Bait works, they will be left to deal with an economy heavy on technology and financialisation. Watch how fast these pack up and go to a warmer climate as soon as the ideology starts appearing as legislation.
Eric Newhill – crazy Nancy’s latest 25th Amd adventure is equally likely to be intended for use on Joe; she’s just wants to keep using it on enough Presidents, doesn’t matter who, to eventually get the one she thinks she wants.

  8. Eric Newhill says:

    PRC90,
For some reason using the 25th against Joe (or anyone) didn’t occur to me. You’re probably right. Between owning the media, stacking the court and freer use of the 25A, I’d say that the deep state’s socialist power grab would be a fait accompli ….except for that pesky 2A and all of the dedicated gun owning patriots. ….oh dear what to do?

  9. PRC90 says:

Eric, I see not so much an intended socialist power grab by vested interests / political donors and the administrative tentacles of government, but more so a fight against Trump to retain their positions. After all, did not Trump prematurely declare war on them in his Inauguration Speech four years ago. I expect this terrified them.
However, that’s what they’ve bought. I doubt they expected the chaotic mess the DNC has turned into, with their candidate none better than a senile child-sniffing time server. Delusions aside, the owners and sponsors have lost control, and it will get a lot worse for them if the Leftist menagerie they’ve paid for takes control of Executive and Legislative power.
The problem with Nanshy and her 25A ? Pursuing Presidents can be habit-forming, and why should it be restricted to a serving POTUS ? Some of her acolytes are calling for a Biden Administration to chase the Trump Crime Family to the grave, without realising or caring about this importation of a third world tradition.
The 2A ? Should Trump lose, I’d expect by early 2021 the mad-eyed ideologues within the menagerie will be trying to grab every round of ammunition in civilian hands in the US. Yep, every round.
    Outcomes ? Roll the dice.

  10. ked says:

If one truly desires change in America’s political landscape, they should vote to turn out incumbent presidents as early & often as possible, be it impeachment, 25th amendment or election.
The political party industry is the nemesis, not the side-show issues that serve to keep the game under control.
