“Buried deep in a report that’s an addendum to the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, a budget that governs America’s clandestine services, Congress made two startling claims. The admission is stunning chiefly because, as more information about the U.S. government’s study of UFOs has become public, many politicians have stopped just short of claiming the unidentified objects were extraterrestrial or extradimensional in origin. The standard line is typically that, if UFOs exist, then they’re likely advanced—although human-made—vehicles. Obama refused to confirm the existence of aliens but did say that people have seen a lot of strange stuff in the sky lately when asked directly on The Late Show with James Corden, for example. But now Congress seems to want to specifically distinguish between objects that are “man-made” and those that are not.
A “cross-domain transmedium” threat is one that, by the Pentagon’s definition, can move from water to air to space in ways we don’t understand. In July, the Pentagon announced it was opening the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate these threats. The bill would reclassify Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (the government’s term for UFOs) as Unidentified Aerospace-Undersea Phenomena and rename the Pentagon’s office in line with the new designation. Last year, a leaked video that was confirmed by the Pentagon as being authentic appeared to show a UFO seamlessly flying beneath the waves. “

This passage by Father Pierre Teilhard de Chardin SJ illustrates, at least to me, that he accepted the probable existence of alien races or poly-human as he put it. By what logic/arrogance can we believe that in the universe (say how big is the universe anyway. Man, its forever and everywhere) we are alone? Acknowledging we are not alone requires us to question/doubt all the creation stories, moral/ethical beliefs, and “glue” which holds humans together. They are way ahead of us. If they wanted to be proactive, they could eradicate us in a heartbeat, and for a long time.

On the contrary, they are here and observe us. They try to understand us. Our frenzy baffles them.
Their conclusion is obvious:
We are too stupid to speak up. Nothing to gain and a waste of time.

Some UFOs show up on radar. I don’t know of any personal hallucination that shows up on radar. However, many UFOs that are not recorded on radar systems nonetheless provide a large, compelling body of evidence. Consider, for example, the “foo fighters” seen by World War II pilots and air crews. These men were extremely sober and responsible.

My dad probably flew as many or more miles as any US Army Air Corps man between Dec 7, 1941 and Jan 1, 1946. (Navigator on 4 engine long distance bombers. But Air Transport Command, hence the mileage). He called those sightings “Gremlins” and said it was a common occurrence of flyboys. TTG explains it very well in his story of his ranger buddy on a cold North Georgia mountain elsewhere on this blog and the rangers under training who put coins in cypress trees looking for candy bars and soda pop. Exhaustion and stress but of superhuman magnitude. It warped my dad so severely that when my mother would scream at him about Hiroshima and how could Truman do that his only response was: “People just wanted to go home.”
It’s just another of a huge supply of anecdotes about the Big One (2nd World War) but it may have value and be relevant to the current conflict in Ukraine that is a proxy war between two nuclear superpowers (USA and Russia) because very smart people are now calling it a war of attrition.

I subscribe to the Great Filter solution to the Fermi paradox and am skeptical of UFO’s being signs of alien civilizations. Either that or the Strugatsky brothers were right in their highly original and amusing premise; that aliens are of such a level of advancement that they have no interest in us whatsoever and maybe just treat out planet as analogous to a picnic location.

I have read fairly credible reports that up to 1 percent of the U.S. population are in fact aliens. If this is true it would mean that as many as 329,ooo aliens are walking around in the United States. Well, how could this possibly be true. It is not possible that such numbers of enemy agents could be hidden through cloaking because there are always technical problems – they would in fact have to look like us, and are us, but without a soul and a deep seated hostility towards us, because we can advance and they cannot.
There will be ways to detect such enemies of the state, but I do wish more forward progress had been made. Difficult times ahead and very very soon.

Looking at the timeline of life on earth and figuring it’s probably similar to how live evolves most everywhere, I’d imagine one could explore a million planets that harbor life before one might encounter a proto-industrial civilization just a few dozen generations removed from discovering how to make steel, and even coexists with stone-tool making people of the same species. They all but certainly find us fascinating and if there is a community word would spread. Every egg (or whatever) head in range would seek a study tour.

Most folk lack a conception of just how vast and empty the universe is. Inter-dimensional travel is a must for space-faring living organisms. An illustration: traveling in our 3 dimensions at the cosmic speed limit (light speed) aliens who left our nearest galaxy around the time man first learnt to control fire would still not have arrived here yet. Communication would need to work inter-dimensionally too order to support an interstellar civilization. Making a “how are you today?” call to Proxima Centauri entails an 8 year delay for the response. Aliens able to master such technology would probably regard our civilization as akin to how we regard an ant colony.
No one, well not me, can understand the limitless nature of the universe. No beginning, no ending, always there, always will be; how far is that? How wide? Did we reach bottom yet? The nature of life as we understand it has a beginning and an end. Everything does right …. nope, not the universe. If its true that the universe holds more stars than all the grains of sand on all the beaches on earth, how would one know? If our simian brain w/its imperfect set of senses, is unable to receive and understand the information pouring onto earth daily, how are we to answer the fundamental question for humanity – why?

I think the biggest question is the following:
Should the U.S. and Russia cooperate in gathering information about these mysterious observations?
I.e., establish a joint task force which would collect what is known about these things.
The intelligence agencies in the U.S. have vast experience in collecting and analyzing information.
So too do those in Russia.
Would it not be better for the human race for them to work together on this issue?
I can imagine two arguments against that:
1. It might reveal too much about our capabilities.
2. The Russians might feed us false information, for one reason or another.
Also hindering this would be the current poisonous relations between the U.S. and Russia.

You can substitute China for Russia and it would read just as well. Chinese intelligence and space capabilities may even have more to say on this question than the Russians, although I doubt neither China nor the US trusts each other enough to cooperate.
In the case of China,
I think the issue of Taiwan is an intractable one.
I see no good solution to it,
which leaves both sides satisfied, or at least not too unhappy.
Of course, from my POV I wish the PRC would just accept Taiwan as an independent nation,
but if they are not willing to do that, what can we do?
There is no evident mutually acceptable solution.
OTOH, for Ukraine I think John Mearsheimer has given good advice: find a compromise that both sides can live with.
