Karen Bass may be a Cuban intelligence asset.

Bass

"In fact, the terrorist offshoot from the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) known as The Weathermen and staffed most famously by Barack Obama’s future “neighbors” Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn served as the DGI’s U.S. recruitment officers at the time, which proved easy. Castro’s DGI and their KGB masters had other goals in mind, as we’ll see in a minute.

Okay, that Karen Bass was a very enthusiastic and active Venceremos Brigadista, we’ve already established. But was there more to these Venceremos Brigades? Perhaps a declassified FBI report (from well before the bureau was run by people by Comey, I might add) might help"

"“The ultimate objective of the DGI (Cuban Intelligence’s) in setting up the Venceremos Brigades “is the recruitment of individuals who are politically oriented and who someday may obtain a position, elective or appointive, somewhere in the U.S. Government, which would provide the Cuban Government with access to political, economic and military intelligence.”

Interestingly, right at about this time, Cuba’s DGI, which had always been mentored by the KGB, come under direct and total control of the KGB. Let’s see the sworn testimony of a high-ranking DGI defector during Congressional hearing titled:  The Role of Cuba in International Terrorism and Subversion, Intelligence Activities of the DGI, Feb. 26, 1982, US Senate Subcommittee on Security and Terrorism, Feb. 26, 1982?:  "

—————

OK, pilgrims, you are probably wondering how someone with this kind of background could sit in Congress and have access to US classified information.  Simple – members of Congress do not require Executive Branch granted security clearances.  They have access to classified information by virtue of their constitutional role.

Bass may or may not have been the subject of a complaint based investigation, but failing that she could easily have reached this point in her voyage without ever having been investigated for possible foreign intelligence ties.

And, she continues to visit Cuba regularly.  Are the Democrats dumb enough to do this?

Perhaps.  pl

The borgs did not trust POTUS-Elect Trump with classified info; but they hand it out for free to any other elected official? How does that work.

  2. Polish Janitor says:

As we are nearing Democratic Convention, the competition becomes tighter. I read the other day, a piece in Politico that sugested Kamala was leaking damaging material on her rivals and Karen Bass was among them. plus, is Bass even ready for a VP position given her modest experience at congress (since 2011)? If I can recall correctly the last time (the only time?) a congresswoman was nominated for VP position was Geraldine Ferraro from NY by Mondale in ’84. She was the chair of the House Democratic Caucus for a couple of years in the 80s.
The more this whole VP situation unravels the more I come to realize that Susan Rice has a higher chance of becoming Biden’s pick, as you argued a few posts ago. Was your reasoning based on Rice’s Foreign Policy resume, fundraising skill and their past relationship in the Obama admin or else? just out of curiosity…

  3. Bobo says:

Ms Bass has brought great benefits to her district and served admirably as its Congresswoman. She raised five children which is a feat by itself. Thus she is due some accolades. She also is a strong supporter for Universal Healthcare and the Green New Deal amongst other socialistic programs.
Now this Venceremos Brigade is even listed in her Wiki page, credibility, which will require a strong response and full vetting prior to Uncle Joe accepting her on his ticket. The real question will be WHO is pushing this lady on old Joe. That person is not working for the benefit of this country. Them Old Weathermen/ladies sure do arise at strange times. A mistake was made in letting them run free.

    All of that.

Do you want a Cuban agent to have the access that one would have as either VP or CinC? Do you want such a person to be head of the armed forces?

  6. J says:

Wunnerful, Товарищ Karen Bass a Cuban DGI asset with access to the Football. such a comforting thought.

  7. Leith says:

Joe ain’t gonna pick her, he is going with Rice as PL predicted. Unless Rice turns it down looking for the SecState position instead. But even then it would go to Harris, and not to Bass.
But Bass is Chair of both the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, so my guess is she already has some type of high clearance. I’m more concerned about her relationship with those whackadoodle Scientologists than with a dead dictator.
Most of those early Venceremos Brigadistas went down there to cut sugar cane and help fulfill the ten million ton harvest goal. I’d be careful if I was Humberto, she probably knows how to use a cane knife and she looks like she has the beef to still swing one: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/35/Evstafiev-zafra.jpg/450px-Evstafiev-zafra.jpg

  8. J says:

Some food for thought. Since Товарищ Bass continues to visit Cuba, one has to wonder how many SVR contacts and meetings she’s had, along with her being passed by the DGI into the hands of a SVR handler.

“she already has some type of high clearance.” Did I not tell you that congress members do NOT have clearances but they have all necessary access. https://www.govloop.com/community/blog/do-members-of-congress-have-security-clearances/

    Colonel
You know the answer to that, of course not, as I was just being a little courteous of the ladies accomplishments. She is just another Community Organizer with a little training. Should this turn more dark then Old Joe is in for a good tongue lashing.

  11. J says:

Another shuddering thought, Товарищ Bass’s appointment to the House Intelligence Committee. Oh wait, it’s current head is an Intelligence asset of a Foreign nation already.
    It’s getting too murky.

  12. J says:

One of the most disconcerting aspects of Bass, is the fact that she’s a Maoist.

  13. turcopolier says:

    J
    Where did you get that?

  14. Fred says:

Bass might be the only member of the House compromised by Communist Cuba, but I suspect there are a multitude of staffers and federal service employees who have been compromised by Cuba or other communist governments. Senator Feinstien had a Chinese agent on her payroll for years. House IT staffer Imran Awan comes to mind, even if it were only bank fraud he was guilty of, which I doubt. Sadly I wouldn’t put it past the Democrats to pick Bass this year, especially Biden. Every enemey America has seems to have come out of the woodwork this election cycle.

  16. J says:

Tablet magazine had a good write up on Bass and her Maoist associations.
A document surfaced online linking Bass to the Line of March, an “anti-revisionist” Maoist organization founded in Oakland, CA, in 1980 by Irwin Silber. Members of the Line of March operated their network clandestinely, without formal names or titles. They called themselves “rectificationists.”
Bass’s name and some of her associates are included in a document from the 1980s listing “Consolidated rectification forces.”
When Bass’s office was approached about this document associating her with the Line of March’s “rectification forces,” her spokesperson did not deny the association or the document’s authenticity. The spokesperson’s response was that Bass had simply “attended events.” Line of March activists became active in civic organizations.
July 2008 left-wing activist Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz recalled that Line of March was among the groups that “got radicals into key local positions, which has had a permanent effect on local politics.” In a statement to Tablet magazine, Dunbar-Ortiz said that “quite a few Line of March activists did go on and work in civic organizations. It became pretty standard.”
“Most of them have blended in relatively smoothly to a kind of left wing of the Democratic Party,” Paul Saba, an archivist of the anti-revisionist movement, told Tablet. “They came out of the wilderness of ultra-leftism and found a place in the political system where they thought they could really make a difference and stayed there ever since.”
Bass’s movement into the political mainstream also coincided with the omission of her associations with the Venceremos Brigade and communist organizations like Line of March. From the mid-1990s on, the public would come to know Representative Karen Bass as a community organizer fighting a temperance crusade against liquor stores in South Los Angeles.
Former Red Diaper Baby David Horowitz remarked that because Bass was a Maoist, that made her very dangerous.

  17. AK says:

She has an open record of praising Fidel Castro post mortem:
“As Cuba begins nine days of mourning, I wish to express my condolences to the Cuban people and the family of Fidel Castro. The passing of the Comandante en Jefe is a great loss to the people of Cuba. I hope together, our two nations will continue on the new path of support and collaboration with one another, and continue in the new direction of diplomacy.”

She sought to walk this back a few days ago, but this should surely follow her like an albatross through Florida during the general, should Biden be so foolish as to tap her. IMO, the Trump campaign need only run this quote on a loop ad in the Miami market from about Sept. 15th through Election Day, and he might just shore up Florida as a result.

Ha. Cats do a fine job of raising six or more of their children at a time, all by themselves, and catching dinner for them at the same time. Doesn’t mean I want a Calico in the White House.

Recently I’ve been reflecting on the events of the last few months. In particular the power of the American consumer. Frankly, I’m surprised. We have managed to shut down this economy in a matter of a few weeks. Think of the power we have if this force were united for the common good!
Walrus: I agree with your comment 100%.

  20. Vegetius says:

Harris is the DNC’s pick. The Democrat leadership is very uncomfortable with authentically African-American politicians, and Harris is both mixed-race and has married into their donor base. This was why there was so much media support for her, at least until Tulsi Gabbard knee-capped her by simply pointing to the public record.

  21. turcopolier says:

    Mike46
The real question is whether or not the economy should have been shut down at all considering the actual level of morbidity in young people.

  22. J says:

    Colonel,
You wondered who were the prime money backers of BLM and ANTIFA. Such money and logistics takes “state sponsorship”. Given the current state of affairs, I would put Communist China and its CCP at the top of the list.

  23. J says:

    Mike46,
Consider Corporations as also adding and abetting the enemies of the U.S.. Many call themselves “Transnational,” Corporations, which is PC terms for Borg Globalists.
Many have morphed into Communist. Prime example look at Silicon Valley.
What they don’t understand is that they are being played as “useful idiots. When the time comes their Communist buddies will put two behind their ear as they know too much.

  24. TV says:

Bass accurately reflects the anti-American rage of the Democrat-media party.
Even if the Republicans (the stupid party) did successfully make her history and danger to America a major issue, what effect would this have on the generally ignorant, uninformed, immature and emotion-driven electorate AKA millennials?

  25. Deap says:

Silicon Valley is indeed curious. They are primarily libertarians; yet they fund the most progressive Democrat elements. Which in fact are anathema to their own political leanings, if the Democrats were ever to apply it to them.
Long ago I assumed Silicon Valley was simply paying the Democrats protection money – keep your union hands off Silicon Valley employees, and we will support your wacko causes everywhere else.
Democrats “attacking” the Silicon oligarchs in this recent House hearing was odd theater. Only Tim Cook (Apple) appeared to know how to play the inside game; while the others had more deer in the headlight responses when under this televised political attack.
Assume most Democrats were just looking for campaign ad material in the long run – Candidate for the Little People takes on the Robber Barons. S/he will fight for us.

Don’t absolve the Republicans of “anti-americanism”. Do you think invading and fighting an insurgency in Afghanistan for nearly 20 years supports the national interest? How about invading and destroying Iraq? What’s that done for the people of the USA?
How about Kodak getting $700 million from Trump & Jared? Of course the CEO get’s 1.5 million shares the day before this is announced. I recall the outrage when Solyndra took the American people to the cleaners after Obama gave them hundreds of millions. Where are all the Trump supporters on this and on Trump’s “vaccine czar” who had a complete financial conflict of interest in hyping vaccine “test results”?

  27. Jack says:

“…critical theory and its derivative critical race theory, which is what the specific “anti-racism” oppressor hierarchy model that dominates the current discourse is based on. Its origins trace to a group of German Marxists called The Frankfurt School who came to New York and settled in Columbia University in the early 1950s. They created Critical Theory and its derivative Critical Race Theory.”

    http://www.yjhawkins.com/essays/awake-not-woke
What role have Marxists played in the “intellectual” underpinnings of all the political divisiveness that we see through the decades? Who are the modern versions of Locke and Hayek and why don’t their political philosophy have as much resonance among the common man today as it did among 18th century Americans?

  28. Jack says:

    blue peacock,

‘Eastman Kodak on Monday granted its executive chairman options for 1.75m shares. One day later, the Trump Admin. announced a $765m financing deal and the stock soared, making those additional options worth tens of millions.’

Grifters on the federal, state, county government teat occur across administrations of both parties and Trump’s is no different.

Bass represents the LA area – you really don’t want to be like LA. She is of no particular note or distinction in this state – other than being a dedicated inside player. Which means she is 100% fungible with most of the poltical players in this state.

  30. blum says:

Critical Race Theory is not in the least connected to the Frankfurt School. It is fully a US tradition with its origins in Harvard and in law vs social science. …
Neither did the Frankfurt Schol come to the US in the early 1950s. The Institute of Social Research was founded in Frankfurt, Germany in 1924. Between 1933-1945 the Institute was moved to the US. Some of the scholars like Marcuse remained in the US others like Adorno and Horkheimer returned to Frankfurt.
