“Classified US Embassy Cable Proves Smartmatic’s Connection to Venezuela” PCR

"I expressed doubts about the connection the team drew between Dominion voting machines, Smartmatic software and Venezuela where the technology is suspected of being used for electoral fraud.

I withdraw that doubt. Among Wikileaks’ releases of US Government data there is a classified cable that establishes the essential truth of the legal team’s charges.

On July 10, 2006, the US Embassy’s political counselor in Caracas Venezuela , Robert Downes, sent a classified able to Washington.  You can read the entire cable here:  https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/06CARACAS2063_a.html

The cable reports that “Smartmatic was founded by three Venezuelans, Antonio Mugica, Alberto Anzola, and Roger Pinate.”

The cable reads in part:

“The Venezuelan-owned Smartmatic Corporation is a riddle both in ownership and operation, complicated by the fact that its machines have overseen several landslide (and contested) victories by President Hugo Chavez and his supporters"  PCR

The embassy cable tells an interesting story.  Read it pilgrims!  Read it!  pl

Perhaps this comment unmasks me: the Venezuela connection did not and does not inspire outrage in me. I thought Venezuela under Chavez tried to do decent things for a vast number of extremely poor people.
As well, What role did USA persons or institutions play is acquiring the use of the same software?
Ironically, a link to this article by rabble-rouser journalist Whitney Webb appears in the right hand column next to PCR’s essay:
Continuing and Outrageous U.S. Meddling In The Sovereignty Of Venezuela
Did Chavez use cheater software to stay in power? Possibly. O the outrage. Then he somewhat mysteriously died of cancer.
iirc Venezuela under Chavez endorsed a still-born plan by which Iran would resolve its nuclear crisis; Hillary Clinton killed that baby before it took a breath.
    — One US problem with Venezuela involves its facility for processing otherwise difficult-to-process oil.
    — Venezuela has attempted to purchase Iranian oil, but USA intercepted the shipment and sold it, with revenues into US coffers.
So I perceive circles within circles within circles. Inside one or more of them might lurk a US businessman or politician, maybe even a Republican.

“I thought Venezuela under Chavez tried to do decent things for a vast number of extremely poor people.” So did Lenin, Mao and a variety of other tyrants.

  3. Deap says:

Interesting cable – and alluding to a Dutch shadow organization as part of the cover-up.
Allegedly it was a Dutch hacker that made Germany prohibit all future “electronic voting” in their federal elections. That would be an interesting history to track – why and when did so many European countries ban “electronic voting”. And what were the affiliations of this “Dutch hacker”.
In an earlier tracking of Dominion and the DNC honcho lobbying law firm Brownstein, Farber, Hyatt and Shreck, I did come across much earlier criticisms of Dominion voting from Democrat election watchdogs. Bush was President in 2006 when this cable was written.
What did “they” know, and when did they know it. Solve for “they” first.

  4. Smartmatic is a competitor of Dominion in the election machine industry. They do not share hardware or software with Dominion or any other competitors. Smartmatic was only used in Los Angeles County in 2020. Whatever baggage Smartmatic may have, it has nothing to with the results of our election. Trump and his elite strike team are spinning this into a web of lies in an effort to baffle us all. The same with the breathless claim of Dominion machines playing games in Philadelphia. Philadelphia did not use Dominion machines. This crooked voting machine theory is a dead end. Trump better stick to beating on the absentee/mail in ballot angle if he wants to make any headway.

  5. Artemesia says:

Colonel, I don’t know enough about Venezuela pre- and post-Chavez to argue persuasively. I remember listening to Chavez being extensively interviewed and remember being impressed.
I must say I have a hard time putting Chavez in the same category as Lenin and Mao. To the best of my knowledge, Chavez did not embark on campaigns to kill masses of Venezuelan people.

  6. Deap says:

Artemesia, others have also speculated some sort of GOP involvement as well as Democrat benefit in the current electronic voting mess.
Would that GOP connection be anyone in the virulent TDS Lincoln project group or high profile GOP No-Trumpers?
The Bush family links are a temporal common denominator to both Chavez’s Venezuela and and the 2020 US election. But of course, coincidence is not causation.

I am sorry. I am a black/white thinker in many ways. I know, however that there are some situations when there is a middle ground.
In regard to socialism and communism, however, there is no middle ground as far as I am concerned. They are flawed and dangerous political systems. Those ideologies are based on categorizing human beings, labeling them and determining the “class” they belong to. Of course the Intelligentsia will have to occasionally give the Useful Idiots some crumbs now and then to fend off their eventual desperation and then their decision to revolt.

  8. LJ says:

We have had election security problems since the Sequoia hackable machines during the Bush II 2004 election and on. I always found it puzzling the Democrats did not raise holy hell at the time and never had.
Pinning this probable election fraud Venezuela sounds like a well constructed legend along the lines of the Chinese did it, the Russians did it, dodgy dossiers and yellow cake, etc. Not buying it.
Sadly I personally suspect that elections are now scripted out to make as distractions while the real stories are being played out.

How do Hammer(HAMR)a super computer & Scorecard software figure into this mess? If you read on the left they’re irrelevant, not so if reading on the right. I lack the technological skills to form an opinion.

  11. LondonBob says:

I think the Trump campaign is right to ignore this. They have more than enough to win on signature matching, ballot harvesting and stuffing. By all means let Sidney Powell pursue this but this is the nott the right path to officially pursue.

  12. Neal Mahoney says:

Before y’all get too committed to believing the election was stolen by Hugo Chavez from beyond the grave with money from Soros and “communistic nations” via Dominion, you should check out the old Bradblog (https://bradblog.com/?p=13643). He’s been screaming about the electronic voting machine scam for 20 years and telling anyone who will listen that election legitimacy requires hand marked paper ballots, counted in public. Instead, of course, congress and local governments have, since the steal of 2000, on a bipartisan basis, with Republicans usually in the lead, encouraged the turn over of all of our elections to equipment owned by spooky companies like Dominion, ES&S, etc. (No worries about hanging chads that way, “get over it!”) He did a story 10 years ago about Dominion, Sequoia and Diebold which, in garbled form, seems to form the basis for Sidney Powell’s so-far evidence free charges.

  13. A. Pols says:

I am fairly convinced that certain states doubled down on manufacturing enough votes to tip what earlier appeared to be a Trump win, into a Biden win. And I’m convinced the people behind it were convinced they were doing what had to be done to “save America” and THAT TO THEM IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.
I am also fairly convinced for a variety of reasons, mostly having to do with cultural aversions to aborting the sacred ritual of succession, that all those plotters will get away with it and Biden will ascend the throne on Jan. 20.
    What happens then?
“Tis true and ’tis a pity and pity ’tis ’tis true”

  14. exiled off mainstreet says:

It may have been developed by Chavez to counter the CIA efforts against him. Obviously, since, the thing has become available abroad to the highest bidder, and others have established links between the various companies. The only answer in the end is to require no computer intervention in the counting of ballots.

  15. Alves says:

Dominion voting machines produce a paper ballot, no?
Democrats printing several hundred thousand paper ballots is part of the case being made too? If it is, no GOP official saw any of that? If not, a simple hand recounts of the votes will tell if there was a fraud.
To be quite honest, I am always suspicious of voting machines that do not leave a paper ballot for us to be able to audit the eletronic counting, it is what happens here in Brazil (we have to have a lot of faith in our election officers), but that is not how things are set in the USA afaik and the stuff that I am reading just does not make a good case for fraud. It borders the unbelivable.

  16. Deap says:

Democrats are scaring the hell out of people now that they are over-playing their hand. Carl Bernstein just let out a whopper that is off the charts – Trump is guily ot negligent homicide of 250,000 souls.
These unwoke voters simplistically thought they were just voting against Trump. So they registered a protest vote, assuming Trump would win nationwide anyway.
Now they see what they actually may have voted for instead, they cheering wildly for Trump to win his election appeals cases. Please they howl, can we have a do-over? Never pays to smoke dope and vote at the same time. Or drink Kool-Aid before you mark your ballot.
The 2020 Election is your brain on drugs. Any questions?

  17. TV says:

Howling at the moon or….. lost before it started.
The Republicans (the stupid party) obviously didn’t foresee, much less prepare for the significant fraud in key swing states.
And BTW the Republican “establishment” has as much loathing for Trump (and the “deplorables”) as the Democrat-media party has.
Mail in voting is like putting a fox to watch the hen house.
The judiciary (state and Fed) is as corrupt as the other branches and will continue to render decisions that favor a political agenda, usually Democrat.
Biden probably won – a lot closer without the invalid votes.
    As Walrus said:
The uninformed and ill-educated electorate won’t know the difference until they start to starve.
People get the government they deserve.

  18. Eric Newhill says:

Seems even Liz Warren believes counting machines flip votes. Also, she thinks that all the voting machine vendors are consolidated. I can see that the consolidation is done under numerous shell companies, “equity firms” and that sort of thing. I imagine the Giuliani, who busted up the NY mafia, knows how to get through the smoke and mirrors.

GSA notifies Joe Biden that Trump administration is ready to start transition process

  20. Fred says:

Your information is inaccurate. Lord Malloch Brown admitted to a licensing agreement between the two companies in an interview in 2015. You should do some more research, like who sold what to whom and when:

  21. LJ says:

@Neal Mahoney: “Screaming?” Pretty much. His coverage of the questionable 2004 election is excellent and well as the highly suspicious death of Mike Connell, the Republican IT guru. He died flying his own airplane just before he was going to testify about his role in the duel server magic trick. And of course the DNC remained stone silent about it.

  22. turcopolier says:

Why should we think it will be any different in Georgia?

  23. jerseycityjoan says:

I do have a question. What evidence do you have for what you say? I haven’t heard of millions of Biden voters regretting their votes and screaming for Trump to win after all.
The polls favored Biden. Who would vote for Biden as a protest vote while thinking Trump was a sure bet to win?

  24. Seamus Padraig says:

In my view, Team Trump is wise to put some distance between themselves and Sidney Powell. This whole Venezuela-hacked-the-election sounds a little too … well, Hillary for my taste. Whatever happened to challenging the mail-in ballots? Has that just been buried now?

  25. marhias alexander says:

” Chavez did not embark on campaigns to kill masses of Venezuelan people.”
When did Lenin and Mao do that?
They did make some headway on improving the lot of poor people and China contiues to do that.
When looking at Wikileaks output remember that Julian Assange is a hostage now.

You don’t seem to have noticed the butchery and starvation of collectivization in the USSR and the Great Leap Forward in China.

  27. Christian J. Chuba says:

Dominion is not Smartmatic. Dominion issued a statement that Smartmatic licensed Dominion machines once in 2010.
You know what, Carly Fiorina once sold something to Iran when she ran HP, this means that all HP products are compromised by Iranian malware.
The most compelling argument that the Dominion voting system is well behaved is that it was just audited on a large scale in the Georgia recount. Less than 2,000 votes flipped and that was because they were not collected, not because Dominion maliciously flipped them.
We know that the Dominion voting system does not change or delete votes because all of the paper ballots were compared to the electronic tabulations.
Since this is the crux of the issue for me, I found two links below. This first one confirms that GA switched to paper ballots for this election and the second is a product brochure from Dominion describing their balloting product which prints out the paper ballot. They have other products which assist in electronically tabulating results in a manner which makes sense to the people who run elections.

Thanks Neal. got bits and pieces, but not this dot connecting effort inside the larger rumor mill.
Beyond, ah well, private equity, leverage capital cum management buy out and shell companies hiding in tax shelters … To the extent I grasped it beyond normal market business: Dominating the Market? A standard desire? No? Does it need tax-havens more generally spoken in the larger private equity fund business? Missing to many pieces of the larger economic puzzle here.
Interesting though, will be watching the blog.

jerseyjoan, hope your straw dogs have all their shots. They sound sick. You and your pack are in for a very rough ride. Just clean up the poop they leave behind and don’t toss the bags in my yard.

  32. RonChandler6 says:

The American diplomats in Caracas telling people Chavez and Maduro are rigging elections, are the very same liars who tell the world Venezuelans are starving, and a mountain of other crap.
Smart persons will rather follow the reports of Jimmy’s Carter Centre, who reported on several Venezuelan elections, and judged them some of the cleanest in the world, using a system designed in Taiwan, in which every voter receives a printout of his vote, which is a legal document in case of a disputed return. Fraud alleged by Capriles and others has never been substantiated. And as both Chavez and Maduro’s governments are wildly popular, only benighted Americans could credit they would need to rig elections. The involvement of the sinister English lord Malloch-Brown indicates the Venezuelans were more likely comprador traitors.
I believe it is likely Sidney Powell has been deliberately fed a chunk of American garbage propaganda, so her plaints can later be debunked.
