RED ALERT :: Obama Planning Israel Ambush at Next UN Opening!

Several sources have informed One Jerusalem that the Obama Administration is planning to significantly step up the pressure on Israel by announcing a comprehensive plan for Israel and the Palestinians at the opening of the United Nations General in September.

President Obama Getting Ready to Ambush Israel. Help Stop It Now! Join One Jerusalem!Picture this: The anti-Israel nations of the world surrounding President Obama as he demands that Israel give up sovereignty over Jerusalem, abandon settlements, and recognize a terrorist state on the West Bank.

If this happens, Israel will be isolated from the rest of world in a very dramatic manner. Help stop it by joining One Jerusalem!

The first sign that something was up came when Egyptian President Mubarak said that the Obama Administration was ready to propose a plan in September, and the White House rushed to dampen expectations by declaring that they are nowhere near to readying a plan.

Our sources confirmed that the Obama administration is contemplating this ambush of Israel at the United Nations.

At the moment, friends and supporters of Israel can help derail this insidious plan by helping to publicize the intentions of the Obama administration. Join One Jerusalem Now!

Spread the news to family and friends. Forward this mail and encourage them to sign up!

By focusing public attention to this ambush, we can help avert it.

    All
I suppose that before someone claims to believe that I support the “One Jerusalem” organization, I should state that I do not.
This kind of thing raises for me questions as to the activities of Israeli agitprop vis a vis the Obama Administration in recent weeks. pl

If only it were true. Then I could enjoy my non-support of this effort even more.
I would like to read this appeal as a sign of increasing desperation on the part of the Israel Firsters but won’t get my hopes up.
    Ramadan Kareem, all.

It’s nice of them to crop the photo to show more Arafat and less Abbas. Nothing like exhuming Yasser to distract, deflect, and delay.

Hope the ambush is true, but how did this group know about it?

  5. Cato the Censor says:

Note that this is linked to Debka.com, a known source of disinformation and propaganda.

    Colonel,
Imagine how confounded the Israeli governmental apparatuses would become if the U.S. were to state ‘one position’ and it be ‘unchanging’ — 1948 U.N. mandate rules regarding Israeli borders. Imagine the morfitication taking place in Tel Aviv. Sphincter red light flashing from the Israeli PM’s office, I would imagine.
It would be great if the greater inhabitants of the Mideast neighborhood were afford at least one night’s sleep unhindered.
    1948 U.N. Mandate = ‘Standard/Unchanging’ U.S. Policy towards Israel’s borders.
Imagine the stone faces of Congress persons like Rep. Cohen (R-Va) who recently hosted a trip of GOP Members of the House Of Representatives to Israel and back.

    *chuckle*
I suppose there are some folks here who need to be told that.
But, IMHO, anybody who hasn’t figured out what Debka.com was about at least half a decade ago hasn’t been paying attention.

  8. Utopian says:

Col. Lang. You have drawn attention to an important disinformation campaign now underway. One Jersualem, Debka.com, other extreme right groups want to break the back of the stated U.S. position of demanding a settlement freeze. The upcoming meeting in London between Netanyahu and Sen. Mitchell could see the U.S. backing down to allow building of settlements in Jerusalem, and some 2,500 units that are “already” in process. Recently, Gideon Levy of Haaretz wrote that “An America that will not pressure Israel is an America that will not bring peace,” in his article called “Obama’s America is not delivering the goods”
    http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1107603.html
For that pressure to happen, more Americans have to tell the President and Congress what we want.

  9. dan bradburd says:

There is an interesting column in today’s Guardian on an Obama intiative which would include an Israeli moratorium on West Bank settlements. The One Jerusalem piece might be a pre-emptive strike against this by “dead enders.”

  10. Tom Griffin says:

Perhaps someone in the Obama adminstration should go back over the books on the Bush-era DoD’s sponsorship of the Policy Forum on International Security Affairs and its links with One Jerusalem:

    Col.,
I agree. People have been buying this propaganda for a long time and it looks like they will do anything to destroy Obama.

  13. Charles I says:

debka.file can serve as a handy barometer of current GOI hysteria, so I find the latest call to arms a heartening indicator how threatening reality can be to oppressors whose jig is up.
However, anything less than a cut off of funds, arms and political cover, coupled with support of sanctions until 242 is complied with is meaningless. A call for a moratorium on expansion of the current criminal enterprise is a just a green light for more of the same.
On the other hand, up here there is a court case going on in Quebec against Canadian contractors working on illegal west Bank expansion on that very basis – that the contractor is a party to a war crime being perpetrated on an occupied people.

This looks as much like a cynically breathless fear-mongering fundraiser tool as
    anything else.
Beware! The particular-threats-we-highlight-this-month will kill you in your bed if you don’t send us money! Sign up and send us your money today!
It reminds me of a circular I got from a conservative group about how
the ACLU would outlaw Christmas if I didn’t sign up and send money.

  16. David Habakkuk says:

The picture is particularly ironic, given that Arafat probably represented Israel’s last hope for a peace based on the two-state solution.

Once the two-state solution is ruled out, the strategic logic naturally pushes the Israeli leadership into desperate attempts to get the United States to take action to head off the prospect of an Iranian nuclear capability by military strikes.

But here, lack of clarity in the policy of the Obama Administration may be playing into their hands. Any prospect of making sanctions bite would depend upon Russian and Chinese cooperation.

An assessment of the prospects of Russian cooperation is given a recent article by Andranik Migranyan in The National Interest. He points to the importance of Iran as a partner for Russia, in a whole range of areas, and makes clear that although the Russian leaders would prefer to avoid an Iranian nuclear weapons capability, this is something they feel then can live with. And from a Machiavellian point of view, he notes, a conflict between the U.S. and Iran might actually suit Russian interests.

    (See http://www.nationalinterest.org/PrinterFriendly.aspx?id=21982.)

Rightly or wrong, however, Migranyan denies that such considerations necessarily ruled out any possibility of cooperation. But the Obama Administration, in his view, has now effectively done this:

‘In my opinion, before Joe Biden’s visit to Georgia and Ukraine and prior to his caddish, offensive and condescending remarks concerning Russia in his interview with the Wall Street Journal, one could still hope that under certain conditions some progress was feasible. But after such scandalous behavior by the U.S. vice president, any sort of progress on the sanctions front is highly unlikely.’

As sanctions are patently highly unlikely to work, some way down the line the Obama Administration is likely to find itself caught between a rock and a hard place — having to choose between a potentially catastrophic resort to military action, and appearing a paper tiger: not a thing which it is generally prudent for a great power to do.

What strange bedfellows right wing Christians and Israelis. They both use fear to whip their followers into line.

  20. Actually a more likely bombshell is the outing of Israeli nuclear capability by the US (we of course allowed the theft of critical knowledge and materials to Israel to make the bomb)! Many now realize that non-proliferation will require that all be upfront on nuclear capability. Can you imaging what Russia would have as nightmares if its former subjects still had nukes?
Expect the US to tell Israel to fess up on nukes sometime during Obama regime. But as always could be wrong and know nothing not open source.

  21. charlottemom says:

Isn’t it the other way around – the ambush by Israel on Obama.
    from the Guardian
“Details of the breakthrough deal will be hammered out tomorrow in London, where the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, is due to hold talks with the US special envoy, George Mitchell. Netanyahu met Gordon Brown today in Downing Street, where the two discussed both settlements and the Iranian nuclear programme.”
By my reading it seems that the settlements can continue (for a limited time) and Israel will get US to commit to “go after” Iran nuclear program”
    Am I misreading?

  22. Phil Giraldi says:

J – The congressman who led the 29 strong Republican delegation to Israel (paid for by an organization supporting the rights of Israeli settlers) was Eric Cantor, the only Jewish Republican in the house. Steny Hoyer led a similar group of Democrats a few days later paid for by the Israeli lobby AIPAC.

  23. confusedponderer says:

As for the strange bedfellows, CUFI is rousing its troops again as well:

    Dear Friend,
One of the fundamental goals of CUFI is to educate Christians throughout America about the biblical mandate to stand with Israel.
As a key CUFI supporter, we’re calling on you to help us spread this message. In particular, we’re asking you to share your personal accounts of how you’ve been blessed by blessing Israel.
In Genesis 12:3, God promises that he who blesses Israel will be blessed, and he who curses Israel will be cursed. History demonstrates time after time that the people who blessed the Jews received the blessing of God, while the people who cursed the Jews experienced God’s curses.
Read Pastor Greg Stephens testimony describing how his commitment to blessing Israel has returned God’s promise and has blessed his personal life, his ministry and his local community.
We need more stories like this that we can share in our weekly updates, our web site and special mailings, so that others can see the power of God’s promise.
Help inspire others with your story. Help us show what God is doing for those who stand with His people.
    Submit your testimony today!
Blessings to you and those you love,
    Pastor John Hagee
    National Chairman

  24. Harper says:

    Col. Lang,
While One Israel’s hysterics are unfounded, and clearly aimed at the usual scare tactic fundraising, there is another side to this story. The Obama White House, mindful of how awful the month of August was, is now promising to push the “restart” button on the Obama Presidency, with a major speech at the UN General Assembly session in September, announcing a new push for Middle East peace, and the plans to convene a Madrid II or Annapolis II conference (both Russia and France have offered to host such an event).
Problem is that there is no genuine progress towards such an agreement, and the motive behind this push at the White House is to reverse the President’s collapsing poll numbers, by changing the subject away from the economy and the health care brawl, both of which have badly damaged the President’s approval ratings, especially among former Obama enthusiasts. The rightwing crowd hated Obama from the outset, never voted for him, and are generally impotent anyway. The real slippage is from independents, and also from the “left-liberal” wing of the Democratic Party, who believe that the President has failed to deliver on his campaign promises, and is seen as being in bed with the insurance industry, the big pharmaceuticals and especially, with Wall Street (“What is good for Goldman Sachs is good for America”).
I see zero chance of this September UNGA action really moving things forward, but hysterical flip outs by the Israeli radical right are good fundraising ploys, and they give Netanyahu the excuse/rationale for making no concessions to Mitchell.

  25. GZB says:

I don’t like Israels Foreign Minister Lieberman, but I fully agree with his opinion, that there won’t be a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians in the 16 years. There was hystery on the Arab site as Obama choose Rahmbo and Axelrod for the White House and some hystery in Jerusalem after
Obama’s speech in Cairo. Whatever, nobody should live in the illusion, that Obama will squeez Israelis or that
Bibi Netanyahu lives in fear for massive anti-Israeli actions in Washington.
