I don’t know about you, but I am totally fed up with the faux outrage over police doing their duty and having to make split second decisions with life and death consequences. If the cop had not arrived at the scene and the enraged black women were left alone to sort things out, there would have been at least one fatality. Perhaps more. But because it would have been a black girl killing another black girl, no one would care.

As you can read for yourself in the previous paragraphs, black lives don’t matter when blacks are doing the killing. It is that simple. This is why Black Lives Matters is a fraudulent organization. If you were a black American murdered in this country during 2019, the probability was about 90% that the person who killed you was another black American.
And it is not too difficult to tease out of this data that although black males represent between six to seven percent of the US population, they commit about 45% of the murders in this country.

Blacks are ~13% of US population yet commit >55% of murders and the vast majority of victims are black. These numbers have been consistent for many, many years. Facts that the left and the PC are in denial about or don’t care about. Non PC/MC people with common sense need to start hammering back.
This whole thing makes a lot more sense, if we look at city policing as a Counter-Insurgency exercise. “Policing”, as we all used to think about, as protecting the Public, cannot happen if the Public is hostile, if the People are not providing intelligence.
We are also seeing clearly now, with the machine politics and the obvious ethical corruptions and leadership failures in big metro police departments. That big City Politics is all about helping the Urban Rich to make more money. Which makes sense, since every other city-dwellers’ jobs are to help the Rich People make more money. That’s the raison d’etre of cities. Therefore Rule of Law in cities is to support rich people, and, at best, ignore the interests of the Poor People.

Part of the War on Drugs was to keep cops from policing their own neighborhoods. Even if they live in the city they serve, they cannot work in the jurisdiction they live in, as it may create a conflict of interest. Police not knowing residents is policy, not an accident.
Many police, firefighters/EMTs, and other city employees do not live in the cities that employ them. As the ratio of local residents working for a city steadily declines, so does the performance of that city’s government. It’s a terrible situation, made demonstrably worse by state laws that struck down residency requirements for city employees statewide, in contravention of home rule guarantees. State preemption of local control is destroying municipal governments throughout numerous states.
With the military, it seems odd that progressives are just now waking up to the idea that an all-volunteer force somehow may mysteriously end up with a disproportionate number of right-wing members. Maybe we have a similar phenomenon with police. So I would suggest a draft not only for the military but also for local police. Everyone at a young age should experience one or the other, or maybe both, for a few years. Then perhaps we could have informed discussions and dispense with most of the righteous ranting.
We should also dispassionately consider how dangerous a police officer’s job actually is – compared to a truck driver, carpenter, farmer and host of other jobs…. hint, you will find that a cops level of danger in their job does not make the top ten list.
And as for stopping crime, the police are really, really bad at it. According to FBI stats, only 4% of major crimes reported to police end in someone being convicted of a crime***…and only half of all major crimes are reported.
If we are actually concerned with public safety, with crime control, with having a public institution who’s mandate is actually to serve and protect the citizenry, then we need to design a whole new system from the ground up. Trying to reform the policing system we have into doing what we want it to do is doomed to fail. We need to start with a system that is accountable to the populace it serves, and that is designed specifically to provide security to that populace; not try to reform a system that was designed for entirely different purposes than to protect and serve the public.
So all the soap opera and machismo pushed by cops – that their job is so tough and dangerous – reduces to mush when held to the light of evidence. Continuing in that vein, by and large, police officers are exceptionally well-paid for the minimal qualifications required to get the job. Moreover, there are the power and prestige attractions associated with being narratized as heroic first responders and all that folderal. When you take into consideration official overtime pay, and the pay available for moonlighting, policing is one of the few remaining occupations in which a certain demographic with nothing more than a high-school diploma can realistically achieve a 6 figure income.
This is why police have so little difficulty parting with the 6-8% annual vigorish to their “fraternal orders”. The fraternal lodges are the real command and control systems for police departments. The chief of police is typically a bureaucratic figurehead whose job it is to run interference with politicians – and to a limited degree – the public.

This is a wonderful mid-sized urban anecdote of most of the moving parts involved with the structure of power, prestige, and accountability in contemporary policing. Abusive policing is concentrated among a relatively small proportion of police officers. The majority of U.S. police probably spend their entire careers without any incidence of corruption or brutality.
The problem is that police abuse is protected, unconditionally, resulting in either no or disproportionately low consequences for their actions. What results is that some naturally violent or naturally corrupt people will seek out police careers because it allows them to fulfill these desires without consequence.
Many police departments would have to undergo massive personnel purges to break the power of the corrupt and the abusers that too often run these departments through their unions. The unions will have to be broken. Having a leadership role in a police union or fraternal organization should be cause for extreme scrutiny.
A draft for the military & local police is a terrible idea.
Right now with the “All Volunteer” military they are having a very hard time finding physically & mentally qualified individuals to join. Currently with the ongoing purges in the military, they will have an extremely hard retaining people and/or joining in the first place. Besides, one can make a hell of a lot more $ as a PMC

San Diego conducted a survey of police conduct in the city and found that police not only arrest Blacks at a rate higher than their percentage of the population, but they use force when making an arrest with Blacks much more often than they do when arresting Whites. They did not record WHY that force was used. Resisting arrest was not part of the study, so it was ASSUMED that force was used for emotional reasons.
The Black population in San Diego must be quite small. If I were to guess correctly, this would be because of the gigantic Navy base, which of course has a huge number of sailors and retired personnel as a contributing factor, while not ignoring the number of Blacks who are native-born. Those who indulge in murders must walk a fine line in order not to piss off the huge Latino populations who hail from Mexico, and such garden spots as Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, whose participants in crime and violent crime don’t play. The essence of BLM is secession or conquest. When you consider how as a group the Black community segregate itself culturally and linguistically, the allure of autonomy and privilege that BLM confers is enough to drop the Black community’s equality for all facade. BLM earned further street cred by burning and looting and terrifying American cities without recourse. The impotent response to their lawless has fostered a political extremism in Black youths. What cannot be attained by accomplishments can be attained by force. I never thought that Civil War or fracture of the US was inevitable, but now I do.
On an international level, the BLM has made possible what seemed inconceivable: a tantalizing second front in a potential conflict with US.
Last summer many BLM signs that black teenagers were waving at motorists in Maryland had sub-texts reading “Blacks are in Command Now.” Showed where they are coming from. Maybe more civilized society should accommodate them:
Solidly black ghettos like Anticostia DC, Northwest Baltimore, Harlem, Bedford Sty., South Side Chicago, North Minneapolis, etc., could become de facto black boroughs, with their own elected governments, police forces, licensing, etc.; guaranteed a proportionate share of city tax revenues. They could govern themselves, separated from more civilized people; then stew in their own juice.
