“Gov. Greg Abbott, the Texas Republican, criticized state Democrats who fled to Washington, D.C., on Monday in an effort to deprive the Legislature of a quorum, thus the ability to vote on the GOP’s sweeping elections overhaul bill.
Abbott appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” on Monday to defend the bill and say the missing lawmakers will be arrested upon their return to the state. He said members of the Texas House of Representatives who are still in the state can call for the arrests of their colleagues who do not show up to vote. The one caveat is the arrest has to be made in the state.

“Once they step back into the state they will be arrested and brought back to the Capitol and we will be conducting business,” he said.
Republicans argue the contentious bill would provide greater election security, while Democrats charge it would suppress voter turnout of minorities.
The exodus was the second time that Democratic lawmakers have staged a walkout on the voting overhaul, a measure of their fierce opposition to proposals they say will make it harder for young people, people of color and people with disabilities to vote.

Comment: I understand the Dems. point of view. They want to flood Texas and the rest of the country with illegals in the belief that by hook or by crook they will succeed in making these poor, unfortunate people voters. In places like California they hope to vote them whether they are citizens or not. The Clinton California majority in 2016 points to that. There are many devious ways that you can do that if you want to.
They assume that Latin illegals will vote Left. IMO that is not a valid assumption. Latinos are typically family oriented, socially conservative, hard working people. If the Dems. succeed in re-designing the population of the US, the “new Americans” are not likely to be loyal to the neo-Marxist Democratic Party for very long. pl
Voters are not the “thing”. The illegal aliens are the thing to get them to the thing which is more reps to expand districts. To hell with voters. Your point about the cultural differences between Latino immigrants and both other immigrants and American Blacks, is spot on. As Democrats continue their descent into madness and double down on their groveling to Blacks and to elevating the handful of Black petty criminals killed by police to hero status, it seems likely that Latinos will find Democrat policies distasteful. By and large, from what I see, Latinos are contemptuous of American Blacks because they see them as irresponsible, having a poor work ethic, and above all for failing in their role as fathers, something close to the hearts of Latinos. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes. I find much to respect in the Latino demographic.
Many immigrant communities seem in favour of the ‘drawbridge’ being raised and gates shut now that they are in. They recognise perhaps better than anyone the diluting effects of more.

By and large, Cubans are good people. They deserve freedom from oppression. BTW my ancestors arrived here between 1620 and 1848. Don’t know which “immigrant community” that qualifies me for.
