Yes, Let’s Insist on a Mask Mandate, Especially for Democrats

To put this simply, Masks do not prevent the spread of Covid and, more importantly, wearing a mask is not good for your health.

That’s why I think it ought to be mandated that all Democrats and all supporters of Joe Biden wear masks. Perhaps this explains why the Democrats are embracing so many stupid, counter productive policies–they are suffering from oxygen deprivation. Lack of oxygen and high levels of carbon dioxide is a recipe for killing brain cells.

Don’t forget to check out Joe Hoft’s piece highlighting a separate scientific study that supports the conclusions in the research reported above. The side effects from wearing a N95 mask are not pretty:

  1. Headache;
  2. Increased pressure inside the skull;
  3. Nervous system changes (e.g., increased pain threshold, reduction in cognition – altered judgement, decreased situational awareness, difficulty coordinating sensory or cognitive, abilities and motor activity, decreased visual acuity, widespread activation of the sympathetic nervous system that can oppose the direct effects of CO2 on the heart and blood vessels);
  4. Increased breathing frequency;
  5. Increased “work of breathing”, which is result of breathing through a filter medium;
  6. Cardiovascular effects (e.g., diminished cardiac contractility, vasodilation of peripheral blood vessels);
  7. Reduced tolerance to lighter workloads.

Be a patriot. Demand mask mandates for Democrats. It is only fair.

This report exposes the entire mask crap as a threat to our survival and a probable contributory factor to the dreaded virus problems. Bear in mind that this is the first time in history that multiple regimes have gone after the right to breathe. Any regime doing so is threatening the lives of its subjects and is thus an enemy of its own people with all of the implications that involves. It is also interesting that the social media fascists banned a political adviser named Cortes for providing links to this study. The truth is apparently too dangerous to be publicised if it runs counter to the offical medicofascist narrative.

Masks disguise Nancy Pelosi’s sagging jowls, cover her crepey neck and hide her odd cheek chewing habit. Thus, the mask mandate shall continue.

Masks muffle Biden’s mumbled speech. Masks let Freak Show Fauci make cute graphic gestures in support of “science”. Thus mask shall continue. It has been written.

We now live in a world of fiction. Masks are symbolic of our chosen times. With masks no one knows what we are really thinking or feelings. We hide, while we symbolically preen.

  5. Deap says:

2021: Political pressures demand we cannot be real. Thus we must hide behind masks.

  6. Christian J. Chuba says:

“A meta-analysis among health care workers found that compared to no masks, surgical mask and N95 respirators were not effective against transmission of viral infections or influenza-like illness based on six RCTs”

Then there is no need for healthcare workers or surgeons to wear masks at all.
Is hand washing another myth? Dr. Semmelweis labored in vain.

  7. Eric Newhill says:

There’s a big difference between wearing a mask in a clinical setting and how most everyone wears them “on the street”. For one thing, in a clinical setting, the wearer also dons gloves. Masks and gloves are tossed in the trash when the clinician leaves a hospital room, hands are sanitized and new clean mask and gloves are put on before entering a new room; repeat, repeat, repeat.

On the street, there are no gloves. Grubby bare hands that have touched all manner of dirty, potentially infected surfaces, are constantly raised to the face and the mask to take the mask on and off as well as to make adjustments to the masks, or just to fiddle with it, pick one’s nose, etc. Thus, the mask is actually promoting dirty hand to face/mouth contact.

I have personally witnessed a countless number of people pull their masks down to sneeze. After all, no one wants to walk around with a mask full of sneeze juice. Just yesterday I saw a cashier at a convenience store do that. So whatever is projected by the sneeze goes onto the cashier’s counter. The customer’s hands come into contact with the counter, then with the customer’s face when removing the mask after leaving the store.

It’s all really quite stupid even beyond the fact that the virus is small enough to get through almost any mask that people on the street are wearing. And no, the concept that the mask is stopping big gobs of virus laden spit from entering the environment isn’t smart or clever. It’s just Fauci BS. The virus and spit are sufficiently aerosolized by a sneeze (if the mask is even kept on during the sneeze) that they do spray out through the mask and around the sides of it. To think otherwise is to indulge in magical thinking.

You need to include Republican Governor Doug Budrum of North Dakota. He just vetoed “a bill that would prohibit state officials from mandating face coverings.” In his veto message, Burgum said North Dakota law assigns the governor the responsibility to “minimize or avert the adverse effects of a disaster or emergency.”

“To strip future governors and their state health officers of any low-cost tool that might be used to save lives and livelihoods in a future pandemic or other emergency would be both irresponsible and unnecessary risk to the future public health and well-being of North Dakota citizens,” Burgum wrote.

One good thing I have noticed about masks is that they direct attention to ladies’ eyes. I had forgotten how beautiful they can be! The Arab poets were right, the eyes can be more expressive than spoken language.

I must first ask for forbearance of Col. Lang who owns this website, before asking with the greatest respect to Larry Johnson to please consider the distinct possibility, no, the certainty, that your post, though no doubt heartfelt, is based on junk science authored by one Baruch Vainshelboim. Furthermore, the politicization of what are mostly settled public health practices like the use of masks is an absolute American tragedy that has and will continue to kill Americans.

Yesterday I attended a major national teaching hospital for six hours. I started in the cardiovascular laboratory where I underwent an ultrasonic echo-cardiogram and various stress tests. This was followed by three hours in the lung laboratory where I was made to undergo spirometry and another range of unpleasant lung stress tests.

Obviously this major teaching hospital had not been made aware of Baruch Vainshelboims ground breaking revelation about masks because I was screened on entry to the hospital and both labs by hospital staff wearing masks before I was offered one and encouraged to wear it. Similarly all the hospital staff I encountered from food handlers to technicians, nurses and highly trained specialists were also masked. I hear that the use of masks is widespread in the medical community elsewhere such that perhaps even prize winning physicians, scientists and researchers wear them. Obviously if they had read Vainshelboims paper they would immediately desist for their own healths sake in the knowledge that masks make no difference and are just virtue signalling pieces of fabric worn by Democrats.

Folks, this paper is BS. Masks are worn to stop YOU from spreading your junk to other people by trapping aerosol droplets you exhale. The reference to virus particle sizes is meaningless. The rest of the paper is just similar junk.

As for red/blue, mask/no mask, liberty/ NWO conspiracies, they do my head in. We are not going back to “normal” so start thinking how you can reorganize your life.

This is a wild virus which is highly contagious and currently is “not very’ lethal although it has a nasty habit of mutating. The talking heads and billionaires telling you to ignore this harmless virus have their wives and kids quarantined and the supplies they receive are triple wrapped and the staff who unpack are washed down and sterilised between removing layers.

Analysis of what is going on requires a detailed understanding of epidemiological statistics that is too much for media and politicians to explain or for the average guy to get their head around, so BS rules the day. So this fantasy of ‘”Masks don’t work in Texas” or whatever is a waste of breath.

I am vaccinated but what good it may do is yet to be seen. Every Doctor I know says “get vaccinated as fast as you can”.

We are lucky, for the moment, in Australia and New Zealand because we quarantined and locked down. However we are engaged in Russian Roulette because we are letting some travellers return provided they are quarantined. Sometimes this quarantine fails and we engage in mad contact tracing.

Will Government use the pandemic to try to increase its powers? Of course.

Will politicians tell lies about pandemics? Of course.

Will academics and scientists beat their drums and grind their axes? Certainly.

My advice is to try to follow the science and fact check what you read.

If its any help, I’ve just bought a gas driven cultivator to make a BIG vegetable patch because I think things are going to get worse.

    • Fred says:

“The papaer is BS” says guy who went to the hospital, thus becoming a virus expert. I won’t bother asking why the NIH published this on their website.

“This is a wild virus….” says whom, besides the Chinese communist government?

“Will government use the pandemic to try to increase it’s power? Of course.”

You seem quite unconcerned about the conquest of Australia and New Zealand.

      • Walrus says:

        Fred,

Thank you for your excellent comments.

        1. You are correct, I am not a virus expert. I simply observed that I saw thousands of highly qualified medical staff wearing them.

The NIH didn’t endorse the paper – they published a reference to its source along with thousands of other references. The author is an Israeli exercise physiologist publishing in an obscure journal. He isn’t a virus expert either.

A wild virus? According to my initial briefing on March 6 last year by a Professor in the field it was acting like a wild virus. He briefed again last month (I couldn’t attend) according to him, nothing in the virus behaviour suggests its anything other than wild.

Will Governments use the pandemic to try and increase their power? Are you surprised by my observation that every two bit grifter, politician, crook and charlatan is searching for ways to make money out of this disaster?

Australia and New Zealand conquered? We are loyal subjects of Washington, how dare you say otherwise?

My health? Thank you for asking. You will be pleased to know that it appears that nothing of great interest was found by the experts, otherwise they wouldn’t have let me leave. My GP ordered these investigations and enough blood tests to feed a dozen vampires after I carelessly mentioned shortness of breath and an ongoing love affair with Cabernet Sauvignon. I am hoping for a clean bill of health once she collates all the reports next week.

The cost, by the way, was zero, except for the heart failure blood test which was $90 extra..

        • Yeah, Right says:

“Medical Hypotheses” is not a peer-reviewed journal. Quite the opposite, apparently.

A quick google tells me this: “The primary criteria for acceptance are very different from the usual journals. In essence what I look for are answers to two questions only: Is there some biological plausibility to what the author is saying? Is the paper readable? We are NOT looking at whether or not the paper is true but merely at whether it is interesting.”

So it is the scientific equivalent of click-baiting.

          Colour me unimpressed.

        • Fred says:

Cost: You left out the taxes that pay of all of that. Indirect it might be but it is not zero. Surely after all those years in international business you understand that fact.

Masks. Voluntary or a condition of continued employment?

      • Yeah, Right says:

Fred: “I won’t bother asking why the NIH published this on their website.”

You might be wise to click on the link to “disclaimer” at the top of that article, Fred.

Doing so will show you: “PMC is not a publisher and does not publish journal articles itself.”

The original publication was in a journal called “Med Hypotheses”, which I have never heard of and, I suspect, neither have you or Walrus.

But Walrus is correct; that author does not understand how an N95 mask works nor how the coronovirus spreads from person to person.

And since those two facts are the very basis of his hypothesis then, yeah, the article is junk.

“You seem quite unconcerned about the conquest of Australia and New Zealand.”

I can’t vouch for NZ, but here is Australia we have the same lords and masters now that we had prior to this pandemic.

So, no, no conquistadores, and the very notion that Scotty From Marketing is hell-bent on being anything other than being a inexplicably-popular no-hoper is quite laughable.

        • Fred says:

Thanks for the response, and the reference to clicking a on the study to find the disclaimer.

“N95 mask ” That is not the only thing covered in the article, as poor as it might be.

“…here is Australia we have the same lords and masters now that we had prior to this pandemic.”

As I asked Walrus long ago, how’s that manufacturing sector doing? And, more recently, how about all the restrictions on citizens imposed by those same lords and masters?

          • Yeah, Right says:

Our manufacturing industry was never particularly viable. A small domestic market, and little scope for export when our bigger manufacturers became subsidiaries of multiationals.

Viable back in the pre-1980s when tariffs were still a thing, but not really a goer once neoliberalism took hold around the world.

As for the restrictions on the citizenry, well, perhaps Australians still believe in “consent of the governed” and “for the greater good” and even such quaint ideas as “all pulling together”.

            Well, OK, old-fashioned notions….

    • jld says:

“Similarly all the hospital staff I encountered from food handlers to technicians, nurses and highly trained specialists were also masked.”

      Of course! 😀
Not doing so would have been illegal, thus this proves zilch about masks effectiveness.

“My advice is to try to follow the science and fact check what you read.”

Good, good, but do you really follow your own advice?
You mostly sound as another propaganda mouthpiece, are you leaning Democrat by any chance?

Regardless of the outcome, no voting system can have even a hint of fraud – must be as pure as Penelope – wife of Odysseus. Setting a standard for voting transparency will be the least of the outcomes; let alone proof of major vote counting failures.

  14. Yeah, Right says:

The article you quote from bases its hypothesis on two mistaken assumptions:
    1) The coronovirus floats around the air as a naked particle in the nanometer size range, and therefore it is that which must be filtered by an N95 mask
    2) An N95 mask uses a mechanical filter to trap particles.

    Both are incorrect.

A naked coronovirus would desiccate and be rendered harmless very quickly. In reality it is released into the air in a water droplet sneezed out by a suffer or, less likely, in water vapor breathed out by the same.

An N95 mask is very efficient (better than 95%, hence the name) at blocking both water droplets and water vapor.

And even if a particle on nanometer size attempted to pass through an N95 mask it would be stopped, because the mask doesn’t use a mechanical method of blocking those; there is a positive and negative electrostatic charge on the inner fibres that acts to attract those particles into the fibre. Again, at better than 95% efficiency.

(As an aside, that’s why you can’t wash an N95 mask – doing so destroys the electrostatic charge that makes it work)

    • Fred says:

So no sneezing, no spreading? Or at least very little. N95 are not the only masks mandated, especially as they were not generally available nor were people wearing them doing so correctly.

      • Yeah, Right says:

Less sneezing, less spreading. It can be passed by other means (e.g. touch).

Agreed, N95 masks are not alone.

My take: N95 masks are very good at stopping you from spreading covid-19, and very good at stopping you from catching it. Surgical masks are not as good at the former, and much less good at the latter.

That is axiomatic, because if they were then they would also be called “N95 masks”.

        That is self-evident, isn’t it?

But “not as good as N95” is not the same as “no good at all”.

And, sure, a mask needs to be worn properly to perform properly.

Nothing unusual in that; the same thing is true of scuba-diving, or fire-fighting

        • Fred says:

It can be spread by touch! Quick, tell the US CDC so they can mandate human’s touching one another.

          • Yeah, Right says:

I’m genuinely curious; they don’t advise you to wash your hands with antiseptic where you live?

It’s not mandatory here – how could you enforce it – but handwashing stuff is everywhere.

More Big Brother, obviously. Can’t imagine why we allow it.

          • Leith says:

            Yeah Right:

Same here re handwashing stuff being everywhere. One of the US CDC Guidelines is: “Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.” Even some whiskey distilleries are making hand sanitizer now. At least someone besides maskmakers are making a buck during the pandemic.

    Do you mean this study?

    https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-629043235973?s=03

Come on, health care people have been using masks for hours and hours almost everyday without issue for a century or so by now. Construction workers use them too, and they do it while doing heavy work.

Anyway, people should not reuse masks in a short time interval and it is more than obvious by now that if you really want to protect yourself, instead of just reducing the risks for other people, you should use a good N95 mask. Good ones are even confortable, you just have to find a model that fits well in your face.

The shortest path to normality are vaccines and mask use until COVID-19 reach low levels like in, for example, Australia. Then you can be free of everything and just keep an eye out for any contamination spikes…

    • Fred says:

Your suggestion that health care people have been wearing masks for hours left out the word “continuously”, which is fortunate since they haven’t. Obedience to government decree, the new “normal”, seems to get more popular the closer one gets to China.
