“War of the Worlds” – Farrell

"Al-Qa’ida."  Only one apostrophe.  It represents the consonant "Ain," pronounced something like a dog growling.

"Al-Qaida" (Al-Kayda)(sic) means "air conditioner."  (That was a joke.)
