I spent a long life writing for the government and myself and supervising many, many writers and supposed editors. 

In that time I developed a loathing for the "happy to glad" type of editor and sympathy for Mark Twain's rebellion against his editor..  This was a revolt so profound that in the end the writer sent the editor several pages of typewritten, commas, semicolons, etc. with instruction that they should be inserted as needed.

Understand?  No?  Well then you can insert them wherever they might be most uncomfortable.  pl
