  1. Walrus says:

    Get well soon bassy.

  2. John Minnerath says:

    Basilisk,
Lay low when you get home, I went through that one at the VA a few years ago and about ripped it all apart before it was healed when I decided I was in good enough shape to saw a pile of firewood.

  3. The Twisted Genius says:

    Basilisk,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery and definitely listen to John Minnerath’s advice. You ain’t no Spring chicken anymore. Of course, you’re probably well aware of that. See you at the range soon.

  4. Tyler says:

Hope you feel better Basilisk. Its no fun when someone’s rooting around in your guts!

  5. FB Ali says:

    Best wishes. get well soon.

  6. ReaderOfTeaLeaves says:

Basilisk, here’s your chance to catch up on reading.
Very best wishes, and ‘thirding’ J. Minnerath’s sound advice.

  7. Alba Etie says:

    Basilisk
    Speedy recovery soon Sir .

  8. Charles I says:

Yes get well asap but I fourth John Minnerath. I had analogous surgery for a large hydrocele last Feb.,stunned at the recovery curve w/r/t lifting never mind sawing, chopping, gardening. Surprisingly tiring just holding oneself in for the first couple of weeks depending what you get up to.
And now let us give thanks we were not born under a twig in South Sudan.

  9. Basilisk,
Best wishes — and I would join the chorus echoing John Minnerath’s good advice. It is immensely frustrating to find that one’s system does not recover as rapidly as once it did, but one has to ‘roll with the punch’.

  10. Fred says:

    Basilisk,
Best wishes for a quick recovery.

  11. Basilisk says:

    All,
Thanks a lot for the sage advice, which I intend to follow assiduously. Whatchew mean, TTG?
Haven’t you heard, seventy is the new fifty…er, something like that.

  12. John Minnerath says:

    The “new 50”?!
Some days I feel like I’m at the “new 90” !!
I assiduously followed the Doc’s orders, all the way home from Cheyenne, then saw that big pile of firewood logs calling to me. Ouch. Luckily things stayed in place.

  13. The Twisted Genius says:

    Basilisk,
You may be right. My father still stacks a full cord of firewood in a day, although now he says it tires him out. He’s 83.

  14. David says:

    Basilisk,
    Wishing you a speedy recovery

  15. Maureen Lang says:

    Basilisk,
Was away for the weekend, didn’t read SST much, so missed that you were in hospital. As ROTL said upthread, now’s a chance to catch up on that stack of books you’ve not had a chance to crack open yet.
Wishing you an uneventful, quick recovery from your surgery.

  16. Medicine Man says:

Basilisk, I hope you have a speedy recovery.

  17. confusedponderer says:

    Dear Basilisk,
    gute Besserung,
    yours,
    confusedponderer

  18. Matthew says:

    Get well soon.
    Why a 45? (Because they don’t make a 46.)
