1- Where do all the fireworks come from in ALL these riots? They are now generally restricted for sale in the US. And how about the pallets of bricks, pre-positioned stolen cars in groups and all the other raw material of the rioters.
2- As you can see today, the instruction to Antifada+ is now to intimidate the police, National Guard and all others present at confrontations to kneel on demand to the rioters. Nothing could be clearer as a message of whom is winning control. This generally a successful tactic.
3 – In re Richmond, IMO the graffiti and obscenities now adorning the statues of Lee, Jackson, Davis and Jeb Stuart should remain there for all eternity a a memorial to the "contextualization" of Richmond's shame and disgrace. Someone tried last night to saw off Stuart's leg. I wish I had been there.
4. Trump tonight rejected Kushner's ass kissing response to the mobs and placed CJCS in charge of the emergency. We will see what happens now. I recommend Thiers' response to the Communards. Too bad Clemenceau had skipped town before the French Army caught him. Nika! Nika! pl
How long have the Armed Forces been engaged in low intensity conflicts, at least 20 years plus.
Now with facial recognition software, combine the two — They may run but they cannot hide.
They burned the Minneapolis Popeyes. No way Blacks did that.
They use to shoot looters and nobody I knew cried over it.
This is why all antifa wear masks and hoods. If I were law enforcement/national guard, I would start by removing those masks and the persons wearing them.
In a democracy you don’t cover your face unless you have hideous intentions. As simple as that.
Ah one more thing. A plethora of non-lethal riot control devices have been tested lately by US armed forces all around the world. LRAD loudspeakers (I mean really loud, I have tested one), microwave based Active Denial System (V-MADS) and the rest.
Why I don’t see them used?
I just watched a video of a suburban housewife getting abused and shot at with pellets by police. Make all the jokes you like about soccer moms etc. but the police and the Trump administration run the risk of losing what’s left of the middle classes if middle class whites, minding their own business, get treated like rebels by authorities.
Say, didn’t the British lose a colony that way?

Going back to Gandhi there have been organized resistance whose most successful tactic is to get the authorities to overreact and publicize the action. The image of the dog attacking the man in Memphis, the image of the gal at Kent State kneeling over the shot person.
In this article the video starts where the cop pushes a girl out of the way after they have been encircled. The reporter is told this is when the violence starts. The camera man is well positioned we don’t get to see what happened before just the cop seemingly overreacts
Here in San Jose many stores have been looted but the main focus has been on a cop who seems be taunting the protesters back. The footage is a close up showing the cop and the expression on his face. It has been repeated many times on local news with the cop being sanctioned but no pictures of what was being shouted at him. It’s obvious where the cameraman must have been.
I would think the best way would be to arrest the looters/rioters off the “battlefield” and publicize the significant act of violence they committed with the arrest.
There are numerous monuments to poets throughout Iran, but few to generals.
In Shiraz and Isfehan, young Iranians gather at lunch times and evenings at such monuments to drink tea and read poetry.
At the monument to Ferdowsi, in Tus, near Mashad, one of Iran’s strictest Islamic cities, I took photos of school boys and girls as their teachers guided them through the building and grounds. Groups of girls in pink hijab made silly faces and laughed with us; inside the Tomb, young boys played king of the mountain on a statue of the poet reclining.
I wonder — when Iranians riot, do they deface the monuments to Hafez and Ferdowsi?
Hold on a minute, in the last two days we have been officially informed by ex NSA Susan Rice, by current senator from Florida Marco Rubio, by former Defense Department expert Evelyn Farkas and by Donnie O’Sullivan a CNN expert on disinformation and foreign involvement with social media that all that is happening is because Russia is behind it.
I had thought that it was China with its huge influence operations that was directing the violence and the pandemic but I was wrong; it was Putin after all.
The next thing in the Putin playbook is to have the insurance companies declare that this is a revolution and that no payouts will be forthcoming, or that this is not a revolution and the insurance companies will payout using all the funds they have parked in the various banking and financial institutions thus bankrupting those institutions … oh he is a wily one that Putin.
Attacks against monuments is attack against historical memory.
This reminds me of the recent attacks that destroyed the Buddhas of Bamiyan; which had been defaced centuries earlier by Muslims who were trying to annihilate the pre-Islamic memory.
Ultimately, such attacks are a sign of internal weakness; a lack of firm belief in one’s own convictions and beliefs.
Millennia earlier, on the Iranian plateau and in Egypt, each new dynasty would erase the inscription of the previous dynasty.
I re-read David Graeber’s “The Democracy project”. The book touches on the organisation of the Zukkotti Park anarchist encampment, part of OWS.
Graeber mentions the “Black Bloc”, activists who differed from their fellows in that they engaged in property damage or violence. Are the similar activists in these riots tied in with those earlier activists or is the similarity merely a matter of imitation?
Old Mayor Daly was right- shoot to kill.
Colonel – I pressed send before I had given the reference. Apologies. The reference is to a footnote to page 13 of the book by Graeber mentioned above –
“There is a widespread impression that “the Black Bloc” is some kind of murky organization, given to ultra-militant anarchist ideologies and tactics. Actually, it’s a tactic that activists – usually anarchists – can employ at any demo; it involves covering one’s face, wearing fairly uniform black clothing, and forming a mass willing and able to engage in militant tactics if required, which in the Anglophone world could mean anything from linking arms to form a wall against police, to targeted damage to corporate storefronts. It’s not regularly employed: there hadn’t been a significant Black Bloc in London for years before members of the student movement decided to experiment with the approach that April and to my knowledge hasn’t been one since.”
Graeber is here referring to similar protests in London but later in his book mentions the use of such tactics in the States. He does not imply any central organisation behind such groups (“Black Blocs are in fact a formation, not a group …”).
From his books I find Graeber to be a most interesting writer but tricky, decidedly so: he deploys the apparatus of scholarship but not always, I’d guess, for scholarly purposes.
I note that much of the rioting, er, protesting(gotta keep my eye on that NY Times NewSpeak handbook), is going down in Deep Blue country.
The cops are often just lettin’ it roll, and who can blame them; they know that the politicians absolutely do not have their back, and if things were to get janky, it’d probably be them who get charged and prosecuted, particularly when the local DA is one of Soros’ bought and paid for hand puppets. They’ve got one of those, name of Kravitz, across the river from us in Philly, and this policy of support for anarcho-tyranny would certainly apply in his case. This is merely long-delayed Social Justice, doncha know.
Part of me hopes that Trump holds off, letting the Blue enclaves stew in their own juices, ’cause when the SHTF it would only spatter him, and The Holy Media would characterize him as literally Hitler. So why not make the Democrats ask for the help first? But, if they don’t, their cities can serve as a superb object lesson to the nation as to where their “leadership” gets you. Burned out. Impoverished. Pariahs.
Eh, it’s a nice revenge fantasy, but not a good idea.
So, yeah, mobilize all appropriate Federal resources and agencies – FBI (if they can be arsed), CIA (ditto), NSA, Treasury, ATF, and any others useful – to ferret out Antifa, BLM, and any foreign/overseas troublemakers, and neutralize them insofar as possible. A full court press, as these disruptors are playing for stakes, and don’t let up, because at the first hint of an effective crackdown they will scuttle into cover. Where possible, RICO them to a faretheewell, maximum sentences, strip assets, name the names of those who aid domestic terrorists. If this leads to active supporters in universities or other organizations who receive federal funding, terminate this with immediate effect. They do this to universities who have policies out of line with federal civil rights laws already, so it’s just an extension of already existing practices. Let ’em shriek, make it stick. They conspire against domestic tranquility, and the rule of law, no cheese for them.
@ Terence Gore
So cops are being sanctioned now because of the “expression on their face” while facing rioters and looters. Give me a break. I think it is about time the police organized a total walkout in the jurisdictions where they are being spit on by politicians claiming systemic racism among them. No evidence of that in spite of the fact a disproportionate number of crimes are committed by Negros. If there was systemic racism among police it would certainly be understandable.
Many Iranians practice selective amnesia.
One of the most significant men of Iranian history is the eunuch founder of the Qajar Dynasty, Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar.
A very brave and capable man, but equally mean, cruel and ruthless, who restored much of the Safavid holdings and ended more than 70 years of civil war and chaos.
Yet there are no streets or squares named after him in Iran anywhere. His birthday is never celebrated or mentioned, his grave – in Najaf – is conveniently lost and even in his birthplace, Tabriz, nothing marks his coming and his passing.
Yet without him, there would not have been a contemporary Iran.
It seems that the FBI has been waiting for some overt acts to have been committed….oh, wait…
Dear Babak, aren’t eunuch and “founder of dynasty” mutually exclusive?
Here in the Bay Area the focus in media is on police brutality, how evil Trump is, and what a great alternative Biden would be. There are mentions of police getting shot at or vandalism but they don’t get center spot in the SF Chronicle.
How do you separate out Antifada from lawful and peaceful protesters?
“Tanya M. Kerssen writes and teaches on the political economy of food, agriculture, and rural development with a focus on Latin America and Africa. She holds an MA in Latin American Studies from the University of California Berkeley and is the author of the Food First book Grabbing Power: The new struggles for land, food, and democracy in Northern Honduras.”
I’m sure she’s just the average housewife. Did ABC News Australia mention to you that the Oppression! is being done by the same political party that has run Minneapolis for 40 consecutive years, or did they leave that out? Perhaps Ms. Kerssen, MA UC Berkely, could organize voters to vote out Mayor Frey, guess which party he is a memver of.
Did you notice the 3 second of video of the Victim! of Oppression! doesn’t show the street or anything from the either side of her porch nor from the point of view of the police and the scenes at the 3:30 mark are in a downtown are, nowhere near a residential neighborhood.
“The police appears, if anything, ahhhh you know, to be making war on us, on our neighborhoods.” Ms. Kerssen, in the video you linked.
Let me be the first to say: I denounce Mayor Frey’s oppressive and brutal police crackdown on Ms. Kerssen and her neighbors. Frey must go! VOTE HIM OUT. I’m sure she’ll enjoy the new DFL politicians much more than the ones the people of Minneapolis have voted into office for forty years.
Congrats on the agitprop.

I’d love to see all this happen, but to my mind we need more political will than we currently have. By that I mean, the Democrat party has no interest in allowing any of this cleansing to take place, let alone actually effecting it themselves. Many of their electorate I’m sure are incensed and appalled by the violence and lawlessness, but their reflexive white liberal guilt will never allow them to apprehend any fault with their own voting choices. So where does that leave us, but essentially with two nearly equal and opposing political forces at loggerheads?
As an aside, an interesting article on the suicide of America’s cities today at National Review:
“Cities will lose congressional seats. Federal funding will be steered away accordingly.
Voters left behind in cities will be a combination of the indigent, immigrants working in low-end jobs, the young, and the woke. These people will vote for a hard-left agenda focusing on aid to the poor, forgiveness for criminals, hatred of the rich, and boutique woke issues such as global warming that will push the Democratic Party well to the left.
In other words, the demonstrators and rioters are going to remake the cities in their own image. And it’s going to be disastrous for those cities.”
This mayhem will certainly have political ramifications, and if this writer’s take is even half accurate, where does that put us as cohesive republic?
And who will be raised on the Guards shields? Nika
Do you understand the reference?
Not in Muslim history.
Sultan Mahmoud the Qaznavi passed the sultan-ship to his brother Masoud, Ya’aqub the Leyth likewise to his brother.
Many more such cases could be found – I am sure.
Aqa Muhammad Khan ended the tribal civil war among the Qizilbash as we as the Qaljai tribes and consolidated the king-ship in the Qajar tribe.
No one want to recollect the brutality and depravity of previous centuries that has given rise to the current states.
Millennia earlier, on the Iranian plateau and in Egypt, each new dynasty would erase the inscription of the previous dynasty.

I thought in Egypt that only happened post Akhenaten? Atenism, Armara heresy?
The boom-boom fireworks are legal in 26 states. Not too hard to fill a few u-hauls with them and move them wherever you’d like.
