An impressive animation. Those water landings are something I did not hear about before. Is that really Musk’s plan. It also illustrated what I think is the biggest conundrum facing SpaceX, cooling the stainless steel skin of the StarShip during reentry. The original plan was to have liquid methane fuel flow between two layers of the stainless steel skin and let it bleed through the outer skin through tiny pores. The evaporation was supposed to prevent burn through. I don’t know if that’s still the plan.

  2. I really hope that the fucker can pull it off.

    Got my fingers crossed

    I wish SpaceX well also.

They fired up booster BN3 on a static test stand just 12 days ago (July 19), but with just three of the planned 29 or maybe 32(?) engines. Plans are to static test it with nine engines soon.

First actual flight supposed to be sometime later this year using booster BN4. Ambitious!
