Through the great principle of serendipity I discovered a great internet resource:
“Radio Garden”, which allows one to search for radio broadcasts globally.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Garden
I’m currently listening to some French broadcasts to help brush up on my language skills. http://radio.garden/listen/franceinfo/zY5P7lth
Fred, You can listen to tens of thousands global radio stations just by googling. For example, google:
Lyon France radio stations
Bangkok Thailand radio stations
and so on
The quality can be quite good as well .
Bill,
This is a one stop shop without involing gulag.
In February 1945, FDR met with Ibn Saud, the King of Saudi Arabia, onboard the USS Quincy anchored in the Great Bitter Lake (on the Suez Canal). The purpose of this meeting was to cement the special relationship between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Over the previous decade vast oil reserves had been discovered on the Arabian Peninsula by the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO).
During the course of this meeting, FDR attempted to feel out Ibn Saud on the issue of a Jewish state in Palestine. Ibn Saud replied as follows:
“Give [the Jews] and their descendants the choicest lands and homes of the German people who had oppressed them.”
COL William Eddy USMC was a fluent Arabic linguist and the man who acted as the interpreter in the discussion between FDR and Ibn Saud onboard the Quincy. Eddy wrote up a fascinating account of this meeting, to include the events leading up to the FDR-Ibn Saud meeting and its aftermath. You can find a copy here:

See pages 32 and 33 for a full description of the discussion between these two leaders on the Zionist question. A read of the entire document is well worth your time if you have any interest in 20th Century Middle Eastern history.
Eddy, who worked for OSS during the war, was one of many American Arabists at the time that foresaw the future problems in the middle east if Zionist goals in Palestine were successful. Unfortunately he and the others ended up as Cassandra.
Spoiler alert:
Truman reneged on FDR’s promises to Ibn Saud.
Just as Wilson reneged on his promises to the Arabs of the former Ottoman Empire in negotiations at Versailles. (In Scott Anderson’s discussion of his book, Lawrence in Arabia, https://www.c-span.org/video/?316330-10/panel-discussion-middle-east he reports on Lawrence’s possibly-treasonous attempts to warn the Arabs that the British would similarly betray them. Anderson’s brief mention of the role of Mark Sykes in that betrayal is informative, but it’s worth adding that Sykes’s death (at age 39) of Spanish Flu at Versailles so upset Wilson — who also contracted the flu– that he was unable to function adequately to counterbalance the extensive zionist delegation.
Both US presidents felt more beholden to zionists than to the promises made by FDR to the Arabs.

Marshall told Truman that if he recognized Israel, Marshall would personally vote against Truman.
Just the breath of fresh air and kick in the pants the remaining neo-con Republicans needed. The new voice of the GOP Elise Stefanik is not going to let any GOP votes get stolen …..next time. Not a single one:

Pennsylvania election officials found there was a problem scanning some of the 2020 ballots, using their electronic voting systems. They now learn only Republican ballots had this problem.

Wondering if anyone had read the U.S. National Intelligence Council (NIC) Global Trends 2040. Summary of it is in the attached link. Covers many of the themes discussed here, and implies there are still some voices of sanity around.

Very interesting, looks like a good subject for a post of its own. I’d agree with the authors’ assertion that it may well represent a read-between-the-lines warning that identity politics will tear the US apart.
I’d disagree with the characterization in the following excerpt:“the extent of ideological contest between the Western democratic model and China’s techno-authoritarian system, will shape democratic trends around the world.” Far from a contest, I’d argue a major trend is the deliberate erosion of freedom in Western democracies everywhere and a convergence towards the ideology of the techno-authoritarian system that China has pioneered.
Last week it was leaked Joe Biden was mean, nasty and profane in private. This week we learn Jill Biden has a potty mouth when it comes to Kamala Harris.
Who is leaking this stuff? Are things not all rainbows and puppy dogs in Bidenland. Or is one more rapacious Harris relative making bank spilling the beans.
I’ve heard the conspiracy theory that Hillary wants to get rid of Joe now so she can get appointed VP before getting rid of Kamala later. A rather dubious theory, but I do find the possibility amusing, and not entirely implausible.
Quite plausible. Hillary made her “unsex me here” entreaty to the spirits long ago, only this Lady Macbeth want the crown for herself.

During the Great Depression, people worked to get government checks. In Biden’s America, they get them for doing nothing.

Halt Covid Vaccine, Prominent Scientist Tells CDC
https://www.jennifermargulis.net/halt-covid-vaccine-research-scientist-urges-cdc/
“In a public comment to the CDC, molecular biologist and toxicologist Dr. Janci Chunn Lindsay, Ph.D., called to immediately halt Covid vaccine production and distribution. Citing fertility, blood-clotting concerns (coagulopathy), and immune escape, Dr. Lindsay explained to the committee the scientific evidence showing that the coronavirus vaccines are not safe.
On April 23, 2021, the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices held a meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The focus of this ACIP meeting was blood clotting disorders following Covid vaccines. Dr. Janci Chunn Lindsay spoke to the CDC during the time set aside for public comment. “
