“Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk said Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, a Democrat, is “more of a Republican than John McCain ever was” while speaking at a rally in Arizona.
Kirk praised Sinema for her opposition to ending the filibuster, despite calls from many in her own party to do so. “At least she’s holding the line on the filibuster,” he said.
He made the comments while speaking at the “Rally to Protect Our Elections,” ahead of a speech by former President Donald Trump. The remarks were tweeted by Jeremy Duda, a reporter at Arizona Mirror, and others.” Newsweek
Comment: Amen. These two do not belong in the neo-Marxist Democratic Party. Manchin represents a state as Red as Oklahoma. His change of color would only solidify his position in the senate. The Arizona Left is going to crucify Sinema as soon as they get a chance. Make the move now! pl
Agreed. Sinema has been a surprise. But she and Manchin may be getting a lot more attention and media face time as gadflies than they would if they were part of the Republican fold. And their independence gives them bargaining leverage.
Good graphic given that Sanders has never had an actual job in his life.
Bad idea!
I don’t think this would benefit the G.O.P., and even if it did the benefit would be marginal and quite limited. It is true that Sinema and Manchin don’t quite fall into the radical woke progressive category as they are more centrist and their states are either purple or majority red.
But let me pose this question, what matters more? being a centrist in voting at the Senate floor on certain topics or being a centrist in overall temperament and leaning toward bipartisanship? Sinema is clearly a leftist who does not have much maneuvering in a red Arizona, so her voting reflects her political limitations and probably even some interpretation of ‘pragmatism’ that she is subjected to rather than a ‘renegade’ Democrat who’d better carpetbag to the conservative camp. If one day she decided to migrate to the G.O.P. like New Jersey’s Van Drew back in ’18 her conversion would resemble more mainstream Republican than populist conservative (i.e. Trumpist) one. In simpler terms, she would resemble a Democrat McCain or Democrat Lindsay Graham than a Democrat Hawley or Democrat Cruz.
What the G.O.P. needs most is people like Josh Hawley, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul not female reincarnations of McCain.

Conservatives need the votes, simple as that. You are an ideologue.
Let Sinema, Manchin, Tester, and Donnelly stay in the Democratic Party and divide them and drain their political capital, while at the same time cast critical votes, (i.e. filibuster and infrastructure) in line with the GOP. No need to bring them over.

Conservatives need to control the structure of the senate, committee chairs, etc.
