Suggest honorary US citizenship for Zelensky

Didnt that chap have an American mother?
And? And a syphilitic father lord.
Quite.
…and then a shipment of 5-10 000 Javelins wrapped in 2nd Amendment themed gift wrapping.
What, no sarcasm alert?
Mark Gaughan.
No. I believe in people like Churchill.
I think Alan Brooke’s account of Churchill’s journey to Moscow in 1942 would make the most wonderful movie. With some funny moments, too in Moscow. Starting when his staff realized he was thinking of making a trip someone else was supposed to make…. Out over the war in North Africa at night with only two Spitfires for escort. Makes me shiver….

Members of the committee, thoughts?
Mark G –
I’m sure Zelensky would rmuch ather have more Firefinder counterbattery radars, more access to US Intel, plus more Bayraktars, Javelins & Stingers. And maybe some SAMs longer range than Stingers, his S300 syatems may be running out of missiles (?).
If done in the spirit of Churchill, I’m all for it. Right now there are a lot of national leaders that probably feel entirely inadequate compared to Zelenskiy’s actions and words of the last 13 days. And rightly so. Right now we and others, but especially us, should be giving even more assistance than what we are doing now. Poland just offered to fly their MiG-29s to a US airbase in Germany. So far, the DoD seems flustered and stunned by this move. For God’s sake. Stop living in fear of that little Moscow pecker head. Get those MiG-29s in the hands of Ukrainian pilots while deploying our best A2/AD to Poland, Romania and the Baltics. Do this and then offer honorary US citizenship to the astoundingly brave and resolute Zelenskiy.
Even as disreputable as WIKI is, this man has certainly led an interesting life and a short course to his current high level position – from merely playing a president on TV to suddenly becoming a actual president.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volodymyr_Zelenskyy
I am shocked of course there is no outrage that a man with no political resume, and with only an entertainment back ground as a comedian, who was the voice of Paddington Bear. and a runner up on Dancing with the Stars was suddenly elevated (gasp) to be a leader of his country. His story beats that of Harry Truman and even Donald Trump, mainly because Trump had to wait decades for his leap into the public sector.
One thing presented in WIKI is both Biden and Zelenskyy shared a 32% approval rating and found their fortunes revived once they become a war time president.
Well he did have a little help….
“Seasoned Ukraine watchers raised a sceptical eyebrow two years ago when Volodymyr Zelenskyy swept to a landslide victory in the country’s presidential election. Despite pitching himself as the ultimate outsider intent on breaking the power of the country’s corrupt oligarchic elite, Zelenskyy’s campaign depended heavily on the backing of Ihor Kolomoisky, arguably Ukraine’s most controversial oligarch of all.”
And that from the Atlantic Council no less.
https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/will-zelenskyy-target-all-ukrainian-oligarchs-equally/
Zelenskyy also has a law degree and started a successful entertainment company. I think most comedians have to have instinctive smarts when relating to the public otherwise they would not be successful.
Compare him to Trump who was a success entertainer/con man. He also knows how to read the public.
Trump has an MBA from Wharton, one of the top business schools in the country – a highly coveted degree. Trump also had decades as a successful real estate developer, as well as someone who had to very publicly learn from his mistakes betting on the Atlantic City gambling industry.
We agree, Trump does have a keen instinct to read people, their motives and hidden aspiration. He also very bluntly tells his own truths – you know where he stands, whether you like it or not.
Trump was seasoned both in and by the real world. Zlenskyy – not so much. Plus Zlenskyy runs a faltering country the size of California; not the economic engine of the US.
Deap
What has Trump to do with this? He is a US citizen by birth.
“there is no outrage…”
There was considerable astonishment at the time. The comparison that occurs to me is George Custer. He was promoted from lieutenant straight to brigadier general on the basis of an aggressiveness that impressed General Pleasonton. Four days later, surprised and outnumbered 4 to 1 by Wade Hampton, he earned it. And kept earning it to the end of the war.
No way to run a country or an army, but sometimes it works. Sometimes they earn it.
Deap,
“One thing presented in WIKI is both Biden and Zelenskyy shared a 32% approval rating and found their fortunes revived once they become a war time president.”
Zelenskyy’s approval rating was terrible for a reason: Do not forget that Zelenskyy had originally campaigned to end the war in Donbass and implement the Minsk deal – and once elected President, he did the exact opposite.
“Rally behind the flag” gives a boost for a while, but it does not last long. Look at the history George W. Bush’s approval ratings to see the effect.
No. I do not see any merit in trying to goad NATO member states into a war with Russia. Zelensky should be replaced, not honoured.
Never overlook the need for Democrats to keep playing on the Russia-Russia-Russia card, as Durham report gets closer and closer to public view. These players already know what Durham will disclose – because Team Obama members perpetrated the Russia-Russia-Russia scam.
A cross dressing comedian grifter that plays the piano with his pecker. Don’t stop at honorary citizenship, make him a member of congress too. He’d fit right in. Heck, how about speaker of the house! But why stop there? Since the Constitution is just an old piece of paper written by evil white men, change it so Z can be our POTUS. We need such a fearless leader.

Remarkably rude and offensive.
Perhaps you did not see the sketch? Personally I found it funny.

That was then.
But an improvement on Baghdad Bob, surely?
For the pilgrims who might have missed it: Lambert Strether of Corrente posted a discussion @ the Naked Capitalism site which discusses the antecedents of Gospodin Zelensky. Not a flattering picture…

Watching the video linked there and reading over the comments might be informative.
On the further demerit side he is “friendly” with our klept-in-chief:
