“THE HISTORICAL MEMORY OF A NATION IS NOT MERELY A REPOSITORY.  OUR VISION OF THE PAST CHANNELS OUR VISION OF THE FUTURE BY CONSTRAINING OPTIONS, BUT ALSO IT PLAYS A PROACTIVE ROLE.  THIS MEMORY IS ACTUALLY A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR IN STRUGGLE…. IF ONE CONTROLS PEOPLES’ MEMORY, ONE CONTROLS THEIR DYNAMISM….  IT IS VITAL TO HAVE POSSESSION OF THIS MEMORY, TO CONTROL IT, TO ADMINISTER IT, TELL IT WHAT IT MUST CONTAIN.’  COLLECTIVE MEMORY IS THE TOOLSHED, TOMORROW’S IDEOLOGICAL ARSENAL, FROM WHICH POLITICAL CONCEPTS AND SYMBOLS ARE SELECTED, REINTERPRETED, AND MANIPULATED BOTH BY ESTABLISHED GOVERNMENTS AND OPPOSITION GROUPS.  IT MAY WAIT FOR DECADES, PATIENTLY DORMANT, ONLY TO BE REACTIVATED SUDDENLY AS AN EXPLOSIVE CONTAGIOUS FORCE.”

DR. CHRISTINE M. HELMS IN MCNAIR PAPER # 10 “ARABISM AND ISLAM: STATELESS NATIONS AND NATIONLESS STATES.”  SEPTEMBER, 1990.

    “IF ONE CONTROLS PEOPLES’ MEMORY”

The left has been systematicly erasing the collective memory of America for decades now. Today is Columbus Day, yet Biden & Kamala are not celebrating it, but rather ‘indigious people’s day’. Nikki Haley, a one time GOP leader, was amongst the first to start tearing down monuments and removing flags because she, as a non-indiginous person, by erasing those memories, would be able to control the interpretation of American history (and her lack of a role it in), and tell us all what it must contain. It was certainly expedient for her career.

The brewing rebellion against King Joe’s mandates appears to be a sign that the historical American has had enough. The Haitain’s flooding across the border aren’t new Americans yearing to be free, but Hessians deployed by the oligarchy which is so enamored of ordering Americans around and taxing us to death.

When talking to my acquaintances, I clumsily say that whenever an invading empire wants to demoralize a target nation, the empire seeks to destroy the historical memory of that nation, particularly any memories of pride in identity. I suppose I should collect the words of scholars such as Christine Helms so that I can remind people of such truths in a more scholarly fashion.

The left has been systematicly erasing the collective memory of America for decades now.

They have done a great deal of damage. Quiet scholars are lurking on the Internet with archiving software and maintaining vast hard-disk arrays. We can hope that the tide will turn and those archives will be used to teach the people.

The Haitians flooding across the border aren’t new Americans yearing to be free, but Hessians deployed by the oligarchy which is so enamored of ordering Americans around and taxing us to death.

That is a very good analogy. I hope that the air transport strike (which is reportedly led by military veterans) is the turning point of the current Strauss-Howe “Fourth Turning.” Some interpreters of Strauss and Howe claim that our “winter” started in 2005 and will persist until 2025. I hope the Southwest Airlines strike is the first hint of spring.

  2. EEngineer says:

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

How few remember those words now. Long form discussion, debate, or even entertainment haven’t just fallen out of favor, but are now actively suppressed.

In the next few week several hundred thousand troops will be drummed out. Who will muster them? How does one rally to help them?

  3. Barbara Ann says:

‘Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’ And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory.

What was so powerful and convincing about Orwell’s dystopia was the totality of control the Party had over collective memory. In 1984 history has ended in the most absolute, literal sense; the Party controls the sole historical record and historical ‘facts’ constantly change, making even a sane discussion of the past impossible.

The beginnings of this process are well underway IMO. The emergent Party wants “TOMORROW’S IDEOLOGICAL ARSENAL” to be filled with kids ignorant of American history and values, but indoctrinated with CRT and the like. Now that the ideological war has reached millions of parents, perhaps at last we’ll see a reaction.

  4. Our cultural memory is being explicitly altered. Read about the firing of the docents of the Art Institute of Chicago:

Goodbye to their memories and knowledge of the past.
