    Pat, maybe I am heavily misguided. But it feels this could have beeb the 2nd Battalion, the 2nd infantry Regiment Symbol way back in the 19th century. Wrong? It seems to surface as symbol in WWII again.
    OK, I understand the web and Google have historical limits.
    But still I wonder …

    joanna/LeAnder This is the collar insignia of an officer of Company B, 2nd US Infantry Regiment. I wore this as a lieutenant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2nd_Infantry_Regiment_(United_States)
    This regiment has existed continuously since 1808. It stormed the walls of the citadel of Chapultepec in Mexico City in that war and captured the city of Metz in 1944. It was first across the Rhine a couple of days before the capture of the bridge at Remagen.
