Christmas will come early for lawyers in 2020

Adoration-owl

Will our pilgrimage survive 2020?  Only time will tell, but one thing is certain.  Lawyers will prosper in the post-election world.

IMO the results of the presidential election will be contested in federal court in all 50 states and the result of these challenges will then be appealed to federal appeals courts.  SCOTUS eventually?  Certainly.

The same thing will happen in House and Senate elections.

The Democrats are signaling that they will not accept the re-election of Donald Trump, because as Congresswoman Val Demings stated, "he cheats."  That seems to mean that election itself is proof of Trump's cheating because she thinks he could not possible win otherwise.  This is reminiscent of the Manhattanite who said in 2016 that she did not understand how Trump could have been elected because no one she knew had voted for him.

Add to this Pelosi's indication that she will not countenance Trump's re-election and we have the prospect of a season of misery (except for lawyers).  pl

I have a much younger sister who’s consumed with Wokesterism and each day she posts a picture of a number, artfully made of seashells, flower petals, raspberries, etc. The number is the countdown to the election when she assumes the usurper, Donald trump, will be cast aside. yesterday’s number was 100. I can well imagine how she and millions of others will react should the day of deliverance (assumed to be set in stone) not materialise.

  2. Fred says:

There will be a slew of ADA suits also as those who claim to be medically unable to tolerate masks start suing the multi-nationals and the municipalities pushing the things on the general public. It looks like even Home Depot and Walmart have started to backdown, though they claim ‘violence’ is the reason.

  3. BABAK MAKKINEJAD says:

“…the Manhattanite who said in 2016 that she did not understand how Trump could have been elected because no one she knew had voted for him”
Exactly the same situation as obtained in Iran after the election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the second term in 2009.
“No one I know voted for him…”, discounting the real people that did.
    Manhattan against the Quad Cities
    Northern Tehran against Saveh
In US, the appeal would be to the Supreme Judicial (Legitimate) Authority – SCOTUS – in Iran to the Office of the Supreme Jurisconsult.

  4. Eliot says:

    Col. Lang,
Will they limit themselves to legal challenges? I assumed they would intensify the use of protests and street violence to undermine, if not overthrow, Trump.

  5. Outrage Beyond says:

The likelihood of this litigation sets up the possibility that Nancy Pelosi (or someone else) may serve as an interim President.
The 20th Amendment (part 3) anticipates a situation where no one has “qualified” as either President elect or Vice President elect:
“If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.”
Since the choice of the interim President is up to Congress and it’s likely the the Democrats will control Congress, it seems plausible they would select Pelosi, as this follows the established order of succession.
On the other hand, they might designate Biden as the interim President, then proceed to try and win the litigation.

this election for the democrats is all or nothing. if they do not win the democratic party as we know it will fracture in to at least 2 other parties and cease to be a national party by 2024.
as the grievance party there are now too many victims who want control of the steering wheel with too many mutually excluding ideologies.
this is the hippie democrats last chance before dying out

  7. BillWade says:

I’ve heard that if mail-in ballots become more popular we won’t know the results on election night, it will be a week or so afterwards.

  8. Jack says:

    Sir
Hillary and the Democrats did not accept the 2016 result. We got the Russia Collusion hoax instead that brought together federal law enforcement and the intelligence agencies as well as the media complex in an attempt to unseat a duly elected president. I don’t believe that has happened before.
This time it would appear they’re pulling out the stops to insure that they’ll get the result they want on election night.
Trump too is adding fuel to delegitimize the election. No matter what, many states will have mail-in ballots. Who knows how counties will count them? There will be no debates IMO. And Obama will run a well scripted campaign with Biden in the basement. Kamala Harris I believe will be the VP nominee cementing Obama’s control of the Democratic party for the election.
While lawyers will be in clover , the media too, with plenty of clickbait stories as breaking news. Let’s see how the campaigns heat up after Labor Day.

  9. Jack says:

    Ted Richard,
The same can happen to the Republicans. There’s the populist-nationalists and the corprocrat-globalist group as well as the evangelicals.
Notice that just like 2016 there’s many Republicans that don’t support Trump in 2020. The Lincoln Project for example spending money to defeat Trump with ads on social media.

  10. JP Billen says:

Jack; Susan Rice will be the VP candidate, not Harris. Too much bad blood between Joe and Kamala. Plus she has too many close ties to India and spent her entire teens in Montreal. But he might give her Bill Barr’s job at Justice.

  11. J says:

    Colonel,
Many are starting to believe that Biden is faking his mental instability in order to avoid prosecution for his crimes. Much like Mob Boss Vincent Gigante feigned mental illness to avoid being prosecuted for his crimes.

  12. English Outsider says:

Colonel – it took me a while to get to the owl –
” The owl, representing divine wisdom, is a subtle but recurring figure who supervises sacred activities, a tiny observer that dwells within the inner self of the soul, keeping an eye on things. Friendly, nonjudgmental, and always seeing what takes place, the owl is a symbol of the kind of self-observation that Bosch encourages us all to undertake in our spiritual effort. Bosch consistently included tiny owls in the paintings that encode wisdom teachings. Generally speaking, paintings without the owl are either not from the school of Bosch, or were merely commercial works. The owl, like many of the other icons and motifs Bosch employs throughout his ouevre, always signifies when he appears.”

I hope the pilgrimage survives. These are such odd times it’s good to have some sanity around.

I was wondering how the plotters were going to try to recover from the failure of the Russiagate operation.
SST poster “Outrage Beyond “ has nailed it. The vehicle chosen is the 20th amendment. That is why the meme about trump refusing to leave the Whitehouse has been spread.
We are in for a deliberate creation of an interregnum during which Pelosi will rule with the objective of permanently destroying the forces of conservatism and usher in the creation of a workers paradise (not). I would imagine war would be part of her mix to justify further crackdowns on “extremism” – during which the IC will settle old scores with its critics.

  14. Deap says:

Will Christmas come early for the lawyer suing every single political charlatan who manipulated “covid” into a web of fear and actively prevented access to known therapuetics?
Press conference from a two day “Frontline Doctors” seminar sharing their experience actually treating “covid” patients – not theorizing about “covid”: https://www.breitbart.com/health/2020/07/27/watch-live-frontline-physicians-aim-to-dispel-massive-covid-19-disinformation-campaign/
Well worth the time to watch this, even if off topic somewhat to this thread. Critique this presentation – of course. But these are voices that have artificially been silenced. So listen and always, trust but verify any “covid” information.
I am glad they are taking this on themselves to organize and speak up. Their sincerity is palpable. Who indeed are the “experts”we are supposed to be looking at. Which Emanuel do you want to listen to – Rahm and his Obamacare brother or this Dr Emanuel from Nigeria, who has a long history with prophylactic tropical medicines.

  15. Martin Oline says:

It is true this election is all or nothing, but for the Clintons. I think Clyburn of South Carolina endorsed Biden because he was told to by Bill and Hillary Clinton. Trump’s re-election means an investigation into the Russia hoax they cannot control. Once that starts to unravel there is no telling where it will end. I believe Susan Rice will be selected as Joe’s running mate for the same reason. When Joe is declared incompetent she can be counted on to deep six any investigation because she, too, is involved in the fraud.

  16. scott s. says:

It could be a real problem. My reading is that Congress is the adjudicator of any challenges to the electors. But as we saw in Gore v Bush, that doesn’t stop anyone from trying to get the courts involved. I think US is unique in that we look to courts to solve all problems using legal language.
I do see a scenario where there is an attempt to make House Speaker (assumed to be Pelosi, but if this is a real attempt I don’t think they will just anoint her) President ad interim.

  17. Eric Newhill says:

    EO,
Among the Apache Indians and other Athabaskan speakers, the owl is a bad sign that is dreaded. It represents impending death and loss.

Would the US military obey the orders of a President with such dubious legitimacy? Especially if these orders entail starting a new war?

  19. Fred says:

    Walrus,
So we had the failures of Russia collusion, the emoluments clause, 25th Amendment, Stormy Daniels, Ukraine, Covid Collusion, Black Lives Matter (yours matter less), Coup d’tait II (Antifa protests), and now, recognizing that all those have failed to remove Trump from office and drive 62,000,000 supporters into silence and consent we get the 20th Amendment, which, since voting Black like Biden, is not going to win the election, we’ll finally get rid of the s.o.b. on January 20th, 2021.
Well, since we’ve got time, can anyone explain who at the DNC knew that the primary subsource for the report used in the FISA warrants was Igor Danchenko? How about the Brookings Institute? Fiona Hill, she who knew the the mountain would not come to Mahomet, so she took it to congress, under oath, in the Ukraine impeachment fraud? She knew Igor, what did she know about what else he was doing as a sideline? Anyone else at the DNC, Brookings? How about other NSC employees, LTCs or otherwise? Which DNC members were responsible for paying for that Steele dossier and how are they connected to that great lab assistant in the Frankensteinish Russia collusions coup attempt? How many are “super delegates” who betrayed bernie bros, and Bernie, in rigging the 2016 debates, and are rigging just what now?

  20. turcopolier says:

    fred et al
We should remember that the president of Brookings at the Time was Strobe Talbott. I was in a number meetings with him when he held an Assistant Secretary job at State responsible for the mess that had been the USSR. His grief for the dissolution of that “country” was pathetically sad. He was at Oxford with Bill Clinton and took him to Moscow to visit. What happened there? Who knows? Given BC’s ravening sexual appetite and lack of self-discipline, who knows? Someone in the USSR later decided to make ST the translator and editor of Khrushchev’s memoirs. What a lucky fellow!

  21. BABAK MAKKINEJAD says:

    Fred:
    Not “Mahomet” – “Mohammad”.
Also – diminutive forms: “mammad”, “mahmet”, in Persian and Turkish.
Never “Mahomet” – cannot be derived from the Semitic root h.m.d.

  22. turcopolier says:

    Babak
IMO a better transliteration into English from the original Arabic is Muhammad.

  23. Fred says:

    Babak,
I appreciate the translation, however I’m refering to a line from Bacon, and the reference is to the truth, as Fiona and the borg (and the never Trumpers) saw it, not the Truth as the Prophet saw it. I thought that part, at least, would be clear.
