“Russia allegedly warns Turkey to stay out of Syria”

"The Russian Federation has allegedly warned Turkey to stay out of Syria and to let the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad retake the entire country.

According to a report from the Associated Press, the Russian Federation warned Turkey against capturing the territories that were under the control of the U.S.-backed forces in northern Syria.

Despite these claims by the AP, the Russian Federation has yet to issue any statement warning Turkey against launching their offensive against the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

Instead, the Russian Foreign Ministry has reiterated that they are working closely with Turkey in Syria, adding that all activities are discussed prior to being conducted."  AP and MN

If this is true it is a major development that will serve to constrain Turkish ambitions from Manbij to the east all the way to the Iraqi border.  The Russian Foreign Ministry is understandably silent about such a statement to the Turks preferring to discuss such matters in private so as to not humiliate the other side in such a way as preclude agreement.  pl
