So much a head …

Evacuee auction?

“Taliban political spokesman Suhail Shaheen told The Associated Press there would be no cooperation with Washington on going after the increasingly active Islamic State group affiliate in Afghanistan. IS has taken responsibility for a number of attacks, including a suicide bombing that killed 46 minority Shiite Muslims and wounded dozens as they prayed in a mosque.

“We are able to tackle Daesh independently,” Shaheen said, when asked whether the Taliban would work with the U.S. to contain the Islamic State affiliate. He used an Arabic acronym for IS.

IS has carried out relentless assaults on the country’s Shiite Muslims since emerging in eastern Afghanistan in 2014. IS is also seen as the greatest threat to the United States.

Comment: These Shia in Afghanistan are probably Hazara. They are a Mongol related people who mostly live in the Hindu Kush mountain region in central Afghanistan. They converted to Shiism several centuries ago in order to differentiate themselves from their Sunni persecutors.

In re discussions over people who want to get out of Afghanistan my WAG is that the Taliban will be willing to allow them to leave if they are paid. pl

  1. Leith says:

Taliban says 46 killed, Doctors Without Borders said 100 plus another 200 wounded. Massoud’s Afghan Resistance has said that they will avenge the Kunduz mosque attack.

Hazara are being murdered under both the black flags of ISK or the white flags of the Taliban. Some sources claim that Taliban terrorists are behind the genocide of 20K Hazaras over the last two and a half decades. And since the recent fall of Kabul the Taliban have forced 1000s of Hazara families from their homes and given their land to Pashtun tribes. Many of those displaced are in the hills and will die from cold or starvation. No help in sight from their co-religionists in Iran.

And despite what Suhail Shaheen says, one of the Americans that the Taliban is conferring with in Doha is the Deputy Director of the CIA, David Cohen. Let us hope he does not give away any crown jewels when telling the Talibs where to find ISK.
