“Russian authorities in Ukraine’s occupied city of Donetsk are tossing the bodies of their dead soldiers in a secret dump “by the thousands” and charging their loved ones money to find them.
That’s according to a new audio recording released by Ukraine’s Security Service on Tuesday, which is purportedly an intercepted telephone conversation between two Russians discussing how one of their missing friends was finally found.
In the two-and-a-half minute recording, an unidentified man tells his female relative that the fate of “Inna’s brother” is finally known after he went missing a month ago.
“It’s better that you don’t hear this,” the man says at first, reluctant to spill all the grim details.
After more urging, he finally explains that the unidentified dead man’s “sister went to Donetsk, and there, basically, roughly speaking, is a dump.”

“They just toss them there. And then later it’s easier to make as if they disappeared without a trace. It’s easier for them to pretend they are just missing, and that’s it,” he said, noting that “there are thousands.”
“There’s nowhere left to place them. It’s a dump. I’m telling you in plain Russian—a dump. It’s as tall as a person,” he said, adding that the site is “fenced off, sealed, they don’t let anyone in.”
According to him, the only reason local authorities at the dump site let the woman find her brother was because she paid “good money.””
Comment: 26,000 dead Russian soldiers is the number that was briefed yesterday by the DNI and the Director of DIA. To lose that many men in what is really or should be a minor campaign indicates very poor training at the soldier and small unit levels and a bad system 0f education and selection for promotion and commend for officers.
We seem to have done better for the Ukrainians both covertly and out of country. p

I thought they had mobile crematoriums.
CJC,
Not near enough. I wouldn’t be at all surprised that most of those bodies in the dump were the flower of the DNR/LNR manhood. They scooped up every male for military duty and sent them ill-trained, ill-equipped and ill-led into the meat grinder at the line of contact.
26,000 is almost 13% of the reputed 160,000 Russian troops in the initial invasion. If an equal number were wounded they would have run out of combat power a long time ago. However, this article says that this is in Donesk and specifically states they are “unclaimed” bodies. So are they Russian dead or dead DNR/LNR conscripts as you suggest? I certainly doubt Russia, with those horrible logistics spoken of at length, would collect all the dead bodies and send them to a central point hundreds of kilometers away. This isn’t another “Ghost of Kiev” release from Ukraine – on their Facebook page no less? How are we to judge that as these stories which come out and then disapear, like the mass graves of civilians near Kiev

Masss grave of civilians near Mariupul.

No follow up though from NPR though, guess it’s how hum how about a concert staring Bono! in “war torn” Kiev. And here’s another $40 billion in aid. I won’t ask how many blue masks or covid vaccines got sent that way, that would be triggering to Ms. Jankowicz.
Fred,
I think that may be the cemetery that turned out to have been just a few graves of elderly people dying of natural causes. There’s a Canadian woman reporting from there who went to the location to speak to the gravediggers. Sourcing doesn’t get more primary than that:)
Steve,
Besides the imagery, sourcing was intercepted phone conversations between Russians including one at the site.
UPDATE: No imagery of that dump in Donetsk. The imagery is of another burial site dug by the Russians. Just the intercepts.
Eva Bartlett is that reporter.

Why would the Russians leave fallen comrades like that? Makes no sense.
That’s a Mariupol site, probably of some of the thousands of civilians killed. It has nothing to do with the human dump at Donetsk. There also was non-Ukrainian reporting of three railroad refrigerator cars of dead Russian soldiers gathered by Ukrainians. Finding bodies of dead soldiers on a battlefield is not surprising. What is surprising is that the Russians have refused to claim the bodies.
Steve,
Ukraine is buring through their credibility almost as fast as the Russians.
Assuming a 10:1 ratio of wounded to killed, those numbers seem impossible. Even 5:1 seems improbable.
Do the Russians wear body armor? And do they have what would be considered “modern” battlefield medical treatment available?
10:1? Where did you find that figure. It’s usually 2 or 3 to 1. I also think the casualty rate among the LNR/LNR units is extremely high. The weapons and equipment among the newly impressed troops are terrible. I doubt they have any body armor. Of course, I never wore body armor either.
I was looking at this:
https://www.belfercenter.org/publication/nonfatal-casualties-and-changing-costs-war
Saw that the historical average was closer to 3:1, but that seemed to be from WW1 to present.
Not sure what the most likely middle value would be given the Ukraine scenario.
What I am seeing in video circulating is the Ukrainian corpses and injured soldiers beig left behind, many times rescued by the Russians who start to take care of their wounds even in place.
There are even testimonies of wounded Ukrainian soldiers in hospital tellling this kind of stories and thanking the Russians for their humanity and care.
Why do they act this way with the Ukrainian opponent and then act with theirs the way those yellow press state?
BTW, that blurred phot proves nothing, as it was the case in Bucha..
P.S: Have you read the last interview by EIR with Colonel Black?
If not, you should, to learn what his concept of patriot is.
I agree with him in that being a patriot does not mean always supporting your government whatever it does, even when it acts against the country´s and its population´s interests. Such an attitude, as he claims, is not that of a patriot, but of an upstart…
Dolores,
You’re hopelessly addicted to Russian propaganda.
She IS russian or at least a slavic language speaker, based on her language use.
Nothing further from reality, you smartass…
Do not tell me, IC?
I am of a celtic mix but, as fas as I am aware, have nothing of slavic in my genes, what does not prevent me having debility for the Russian people if not because ethernal indebtedness for liberatingh us from nazism.
In that regard, I consider my duty adding my grain of sand fighting resurgence of nazism in Ukraine and the West.
For what me is concerned, no pasarán!
But that does not keeps me from criticizing Putin, or whoever, whenever is due ( as happened with his obvious gigantic error in agreeing impossing the QR cattle tag on Russian citizens…) , although regarding Ukraine, it is not the case…
Independently of this, use to like to adjust myself to facts and not wishful thinking, less continuous plain kindergarten like lies which are an insult to the Wester people´s intelect.
TTG,
The Russian military always send their dead to Rostov, from where they’re either shipped or collected by family members. I’ve been there a few times during the Chechen wars. The young men doing the processing have a hard time of it, often pouring the remains into black plastic bags before laying a uniform atop the bag and saluting before the zinc coffin is sealed. It’s from this process (followed by placing the coffin in a wooden shipping box) that the phrase, “Gruz 200” – cargo 200 – comes about: the 200kg cargo to be sent home for burial.
These are the Ukrainian dead
There has been more than enough evidence on Telegram that the Ukes don’t exchange the fallen, and the causality ratio is pretty high. You gotta believe they have to be buried somewhere?
whoknows,
I tend to think they are mostly Ukrainian dead as well. They’re the ill-equipped, ill-trained LNR/DNR cannon fodder that Moscow has been hurling against the prepared positions on the LOC. A scorched earth policy is a resource intensive policy.
26K dead Russians in 2.5 months? During the Civil War, Union armies suffered on average 19K dead every 2.5 months. I’m ready to believe Russia had significant losses, but I don’t think this war is bloodier than the ACW/WbS (whatever you prefer).
As for wounded/dead ratio, recent Ukrainian figures for their own casualties are in the 3/1 range (3K dead, 9-10K wounded). Same should go for Russia, I suppose.
Of course, each side underestimates its own losses and exaggerates the other’s casualties.
So the lady paid money to gain access to the cemetery filled with “thousands” of bodies and managed to find her brother? Assuming the bodies were covered up with, say, two to six feet of earth, I’m curious how she found him. Exactly.
Richard Ong,
It wasn’t a cemetery. It was a human dump with bodies stacked up to two meters high. Read the description.
There is no credibility to a story based on a very grainy distorted google earth Image of someplace ..not identified…And The Story source…Unreliable.based on a Radio intercept…Naw…Bodys Bloat and turn black very fast….If this was True…There are many agencys that would Provide Reliable Clear Images.Like the images of 1500 Blown up Russian Tanks and Dead Soldiers All over Ukraine..
They are all over the Internet..
I Dont Believe It Without Proof.. And…I dont think Russia is anxious the Send 23,000 Dead Soldiers back to Russian Familys…That didnt work well in afghanistan
It seems Russia has sent its Entry Level Troops to Fight..or Die..so Far…..and Its wrong to claim thier inventory..are low…or believe thier systems are defective..or wont launch..properly…They have managed alot of Destruction..
I am Cautious
