I would recommend moving to Florida but the shortage of housing now makes it an expensive proposition. What’s left in my local market are the greed sellers.
Thanks for the thought. swmbo refuses to leave this wretched town in the former commonwealth of Virginia.
An older friend, after her children were long scattered, moved back to Charlottesville, where she and family had lived in 1960s. That was mid-90s, a lovely, small house surrounded by green, just outside of town, and she was content for five+ years. Then in early 2000s, she began to observe that, “Charlottesville has changed too much. If I were choosing today, I think I would move to Lexington.”
A Virgninian from birth, she could not imagine being content outside the boundaries of the state. Like many others, she kept looking for islands of the state that had not been colonized and resettled by outsiders.
It is probably the same for people from many regions that have become “desirable” since their birth. I worked with a man who had grown up on a farm in Delray Beach, Florida. By the 90s, only one nephew still lived there, farming at that farm’s scale was no longer viable, and the family’s entire concern was to obtain some legal designation for the land to protect it from development. The prospects were not good.
Even the Hose is “Made in China”….

Didn’t you have a place in the Shenandoah valley?
Winterized?
Still in VA, but at least in beautiful country.
TV
Sold it.
Historically quarantines and lockdowns have never worked. It only works in a completely closed system; nothing in, nothing out. Media, journalists and historians however (along with every subject matter expert in other fields) were never allowed to share their expertise with Fauci who has not been in a lab in over 40 years and is relying on info from the most corrupt cronies on the planet; big pharma.
Fauci was, is and will continue to be 100% wrong. He is an effrontery to medical science and all the other sciences and is setting the world on fire. He is the worst plague the planet has ever encountered.
Since Biden wants to make the rest of the US just like Democrat Uni-Party California, be sure to read how totally dysfunctional it can quickly become.
Democrats conspire with RINO GOP to support the Gov Newsom recall, but also join forces to install Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner in order to destroy the GOP brand in this state forever.
This is what “election reform” looks like California-style:

Be afraid, be very afraid. GOP Larry Elder is a great option, but cynical Democrats and RINO GOP will do all their can to bury him under their Caitlyn Clown Choice instead,
None of these folks will wind up in Martha’s Vineyard, the Hamptons or Hollywood. The kabuki theatre is beyond tiresome.
Things are falling apart so bring back the “Fear Porn.”

The Bidenista Regime only has fear itself to hold its gripes on power.
