The October Surprise Came Early

Biden orders FBI raid on his political opponent from the 2020 election. Zelensky showed how it is done. At least Hunter Biden is still free. We all know what the FBI did with that investigation. Thank goodness there’s an honest president in Washington D.C..

Trump statement:

I’m sure we’ll see a fair election with what is looking more and more like a Democratic Landslide this November. More to come in this developing story. Fred

    Just thinking:

Don’t like the man much, thought he was a crappy president, but the question that just keeps coming to mind is: What were the circumstances that drove Julius Caesar to decide to “cross the Rubicon?”

Second question, is there applicability to the first question in the current situation?

To me this looks like a real bad idea that may well have real world consequences.

    • Barbara Ann says:

      Degringolade

“One of the reasons given as to why Caesar decided to go to war was that he would be prosecuted for legal irregularities during his [first] consulship in 59 BC and violations of various laws passed by Pompey in the late 50s, the consequence of which would be ignominious exile” – wiki on Caesar’s civil war

Caesar was seeking a second consulship and had amassed great power and popularity as a result of his conquests in Gaul – i.e. he was a threat to the senate & the status quo. The above motivations for his crossing the of the Rubicon are disputed. I expect this answers your second question.

  2. Al says:

Biden ordered the raid? What beam into a tin hat you get that?

    • Fred says:

      Al,

You think he did not know the FBI was going to raid the home of the former president, who just happens to be the leading candidate to oppose him in 2024? Bless your heart.

      • JK/AR says:

        Fred,

I’m tempted to cut Al a little slack on your point that “You think he didn’t know .. ?”.

Sure maybe 20 or so years ago he’d known the DoJ and FBI are under the direct control of the Executive Branch but recently?

Hell I don’t doubt for a New York minute Prez Joe is even sure what day of the week it is.

Surely this precedent demands an Oval Office presser. As well, an extensive “free” questioning hour or so.

But oh I forget – he’s re-tested positive for the Lurgy and is now – again – isolated in the basement.

        How convenient.

Quick somebody in the White House – Get holt of Cackles and put her to the podium! Half the nation demands it.

(Who signed the warrant if anybody knows – and from what jurisdiction? Surely not FISC!)

        • Fred says:

The FBI has not raided any of the pedophiles associated with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. I wonder why.

          • JK/AR says:

Yes. It is very odd. I wonder why too, none of the Congress Critters thought to press Director Wray on all these other unseemly “discrepancies” during that last, very recent, oversight hearing held by the Senate?

You know, the one during which much of the attention was spent asking him about ‘signs of militia activity’ eg, the Gadsden and Betsy Ross flags; memos issued by the AG to the bureau directing to “investigate parents asking impertinent questions of school boards”?

All vital to protecting the general welfare and ensuring domestic tranquility to be sure but, one would think, a Lolita Express flying into and out of our airspace and landing on little spits of islands offshore would “arouse” at least a little suspicion wouldn’t one?

But then I guess I can see Wray had his hands full what with all the investigating he was overseeing in such national security matters as the Governor Whitmer kidnapping and execution plot and all the other choreographing chores FBI, by all appearances, have had going on these last few years.

          • Fred says:

            JK/AR,

You should look up who the magistrate who signed the search warrant is and who he took a leave of abscene to represent.

          • Serge says:

            Fred,

The judge that signed the warrant was Epstein’s lawyer in the late 2000s.

      • Fourth and Long says:

“Mr Pretzeldent, do you prefer to shoot yourself in the foot or be hoisted on your own petard?”

“I’m not particular, why do you ask – more hair-sniffing photos in the press?”

“No sir. Without knowing the truth or falsity of it we denied the claims that we approved the raid on the former President’s mansion while he was away in NY. Thing is, we don’t know which is worse for us -us approving or the raid going forward without our approval.”

“Can we tell em we knew but didn’t approve?”

“Yes sir. Thank you. It beats approving but not knowing by a wide margin. And it squares perfectly with our handling of Speaker Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan, or Girl Harbor as it’s being called now.”

  3. blue peacock says:

Hillary Clinton, Hunter Biden, John Brennan, Jim Clapper, Jim Comey, Holder…. no prosecution. Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, Donald Trump get the FBI raids with CNN cameras.

Yeah. All is well at the Shining City on the Hill!

  4. cobo says:

    F***, now ………………. WTF, …

    • Fred says:

Cobo, I inserted a few astericts but agree with the sentiment. This doesn’t bode well for the Republic.

      • cobo says:

Thanks Fred. I wasn’t looking at news, so your article was my first notice of this. I did type words, but I felt I’d better leave the sentiment in dots. The end of the peaceful transition of power is the end of the whole project, I guess. We already knew that, I guess. I still don’t see this as the end, but this is the kind of thing that cements division.

  5. Al says:

Fred, Biden “might” have known. Your claim at this point that Biden ordered it, is deep into your eagerness to engage into nefarious conspiracies.
Hey, give it some time. I’m sure Tucker will help you get to the bottom, where he usually hangs out.

    • Fred says:

      Al,

I’m sure that the ladies of The View will continue to keep you entertained with updates, what with Chris Cuomo off the air now for some unknowable reason.

  6. Samantha says:

I never thought I would live to see what is going on now and the last 6 years in this country. Not one Democrat Senator or Congressperson stands up to condemn the current leadership’s corruption. Not a single statesman among them who cares more about our country than their own personal power.

  7. Whitewall says:

Dems are sending a message with a politicized FBI acting as an arm of the party. Now they are going to ram a doubling of the size of the IRS through Congress to go after political opposition. This is not America. What’s next, a night of broken glass?

    • Deap says:

Tax revolt was the last weapon we had as Americans, since we pay the salaries of these people who are doing this to us.

Democrats sensed this – ergo IRS laying huge supplies of ammunition and now hiring 87,000 IRS agents who can and will shoot, in the performance of their duties.

All with the smug warning, if you are doing everything right by IRS, you won’t have to worry. We worry first IRS is not doing right by us.

We vote and we pay taxes – our two primary duties as citizens today.
Our votes no longer count. Starving the beast is the only leverage that remains.

  8. The Not Twisted Genius says:

Well, now we know the SF approved method of dealing with “quislings” – time to apply the methods to the quislings in the seats of our government before it’s too late for the republic and Constitution.

Everyone knows this is morally bankrupt but so is everything else they have done so par for the course. At least military recruiting is down over 40% and getting worse so that does put a little spring in my step.

    • Fred says:

      Babeltuap,

Antifa and BLM cadres stand ready. Then there are the 145 BTGs worth of new IRS agents to come in 2023. To track the rich tax cheats of course.

  12. Eliot says:

    Fred,

    The Republic is dead.

The federal state that Lincoln built is one issue, Lincoln killed the country as we knew it, and created a monster, and functionally, we live in a shabby oligarchy, but the quality of the ruling class has cratered over the last 30 years, and that’s new and sudden. These new people don’t have any virtues, and they have completely corrupted our institutions. Whatever structural restraints we had, they’re gone.

  13. Condottiere says:

    The liberty tree needs watering.

  14. Barbara Ann says:

So Trump is to be barred from running for the ‘high crime’ of document retention (18 USC § 2071). This reeks of desperation.

    • Fred says:

      Barbara Ann,

The FBI already reviewed those documents months ago. This raid seized every document possible using the that as pretext. The message sent is loud and clear. Garland and Wray do what they will, Republicans wring their hands and live up to their rules (The constitution, see Alinsky). The “Biden” supporters of the left are happily cheering this on. If you’ve read your history you know what is coming.

    • JK/AR says:

18 USC § 2071 Barbara Ann! You sure?

My G-d. I’m only glad Sandy Berger didn’t live to see this happen.

(But then poor “Hammering Hillary” – remember when the USG supplied Blackberries &c circa Benghazi hearings and beyond, hard drives were removed then were reported to have been “hammered into pieces”? … Well at last report she’s still *breathing. And unindicted.)

      * My original type had it, ‘she’s still hanging around’ but then I remembered mine and Fred’s exchange above and concluded it wasn’t worth the risk – living where I do getting ‘Arkancided’ would be … oh I shudder to contemplate

      • Barbara Ann says:

        JK/AR

So says Sidney Powell, but she and Fred agree this is likely just the excuse for a fishing expedition. Still smacks of desperation to me.

Re Hillary hanging around, I can’t help but recall the WH tweet of 2020/12/22. The cognoscenti familiar with USSS code names noted the symbolism at the time. HRC’s own Christmas tree tweet that year featured a guy named Ron Hudler who just happened to have been shot to death in 2008. I’m sure she had no idea and there was no hidden message. Nor of course was there a message in her Christmas Eve tweet with the odd punctuation about “ways to keep each other safe”. Oh and finally of course we should read nothing into the fact that a Q warner, sorry A Q Warner, blew up something in Nashville the very next day.

I don’t think your home state necessarily puts you at increased risk, Arkancide is a national program.

        • JK/AR says:

I hope you’re right Barbara Ann.

You’re maybe not aware though that, some years ago I unwittingly inserted myself into the circle of one Cody Shearer. (It would probably be helpful for you to know how the immediate environs of Arkansas’ capitol grounds are laid out topographically-speaking-wise though.)

Cody doesn’t merit a Wiki entry himself but his ol’ buddy Sidney Blumenthal does – Excerpt from the last entry of Sid’s Wiki:

Connection to Christopher Steele and the second Steele Dossier

“Journalist and former Clinton aide Cody Shearer had created a so-called second dossier that was filled with notes from his conversations journalists and other sources. Shearer gave these notes to Blumenthal and several other journalists. Blumenthal passed on the notes to Jonathan Winer at the State Department, who had a previous relationship with Christopher Steele. In September 2016 Blumenthal discussed Steele’s report with Winer and told him that the information was similar to information he had received from Shearer.[56] [57] Winer then gave the notes to Steele, who then passed them on to the FBI in October and said it came from a friend of the Clintons.[58]”

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidney_Blumenthal

Some years ago before “we Arkies” gifted the rest of y’all “our Bill” [abject apologies everlasting praying forgiveness] My sister was on the staff of the Pulaski county jail as an RN. The jail sits on the bank of the Arkansas River and immediately across the street [Markham] to the south is the hotel of Paula Jones fame. East of the jail [was] the “sportsjoint” Slick Willys (where Bill’s brother Roger plied his “trade” and I, when “home on leave” occasionally supplemented my meager Navy pay playing nine ball).

Abutting “Paula’s” hotel parking lot immediately south sat the Arkansas capitol grounds where Bill plied his trade.

Except for the pool tables of Slick Willys, poor ol’ little ol’ me was ignorant of the greater situation. But came a point I was visiting Sis at the one time she called the bar and asked me to join her for lunch at Cajun’s Wharf – a favored spot of Hillary’s it turned out – during which lunch Sis say’s to me, “JK, see that guy? I’m “concerned about him” and the [folks] I’ve complained to keep ignoring me.”

So I did what older brothers according to the books of the time were expected to do.

          And then Holy Cow!

Adventures ensued which, after extricating myself from those adventures I didn’t venture crossing back across the Arkansas state line until the next century.

But once I did I’ve kept to the promise I made those many years ago which, in general terms, necessitates my never calling in a flight plan and it always having to be VFR for me to be visiting Little Rock.

People scoff I know Barbara Ann but I know certain, Arkancide is a real thing.

      • Al says:

It was only a misdemeanor when Sandy did his misdeed. Trump raised such a crime to felony with possible 5 yr term. A lot more at stake now.

        • JK/AR says:

          Al,

Read Article 2 of the US Constitution.

Therein I see only that a prospective President only has to be natural born and have attained the age of 35 and “been fourteen Years a Resident of the United States.”

Having been previously convicted of either a misdemeanor or a [High Crime] felony doesn’t appear to my read to be barring of that attainment.

Of course a President can be impeached but to be removed requires a second step. According to the Constitution of course which, all the Congress-Critters presumably have sworn to hold to?

Are you Al suggesting doing stuff extra-Constitutionally?

          • TTG says:

            JK/AR,

As far as I know Trump could run for president even if he is indicted, convicted of a felony and serving a prison sentence as can anyone else who meets the minimum Constitutional requirements. Being impeached doesn’t do it and I’m not sure even if he was convicted by the Senate, that alone would bar him from running. I think there’s some other step in there to do that.

          • JK says:

Right TTG, there is another step.

Though impeached twice -but no convictions isn’t really at issue.

The issue would be an impeachment plus a conviction.

But in this “maybe” context the “another step” becomes instead of being the third step rather the first step – getting elected/inaugurated followed [again] by impeachment along with the then third step conviction in the Senate.

Yeah I know it’s a difficult-to-follow-along but I’m sure there are screenwriters a’plenty lined up to set the play in motion.

          • TTG says:

            JK,

Given that Trump no longer holds public office that would put him in jeopardy of a further impeachment and a Senate conviction, he’s home free. A run of the mill indictment and felony conviction won’t keep him from running for president again. The man has no sense of shame whatsoever, so that won’t stop him either.

        • Fred says:

          Al,

” A lot more at stake now.”

Yes, Trump might actually run and win re-election then purge the federal government of a large number of corrupt agents. He might secure our border and not fight for Ukraines. He might nominate judges to actually interpret the constitution rather than make law from the bench. Terrible, terrible.

  15. morongobill says:

Biden, Wray and Garland screwed the pooch with this one. Bigtime blowback heading their way. Perhaps now, Trump will finally take the gloves off. Now we will at last know who are the rinos amongst the republicans. Will the American public finally wake up, or as PCR might say, continue their insouciant ways.

  16. powderfinger1 says:

The leftists will do ANYTHING to keep Trump from running in 2024. I can only imagine if whatever comes from this doesn’t stick, assassination is on the table.

    • Bill Roche says:

If (when) Trump runs he will win. The Socialists and RINOs know this. They will bugger the elections again and their lackeys in the FIB, DOIJ, the USSC, and the CDIA, will “see nothing”. RINOs and the pravda propaganda news stations will fall in. Years ago I read that Stalin managed to control and cower the entire Soviet Gov’t by killing a few agency heads to make it clear who was boss. Are we any different? Where are the states to offset this leviathon of tyranny? Ask Lincoln, who dissolved the federal gov’t as originally conceived. We have been on the down slide for 160 years. It has taken that long to destroy what the founders offered America in 1787. Where to from here? The lines are being drawn right this minute inside citizen’s heads and hearts.

  17. DAVID+C+KISSINGER says:

The hypocrisy of trump supporters is truly breathtaking. They seem to believe that because trump is a former president that he is above the law. This was not a “raid.” This was a search carried out by a judge’s 0rder. There would have had to be compelling evidence of wrong doing before the judge signed the warrant.

Merrick Garland was in a very tough spot. Mitch McConnel stole his SCOTUS seat so that he could pack the Supreme Court with radical-right ideologues bent on ending women’s constitutional right to an abortion. I believe that the evidence of trump’s criminality became too pervasive for him to ignore any longer.

While the trump cultists whine about a democratic led “witch hunt” to bring trump down, have they forgotten that FBI director Chris Wray is a trump appointee?

While I abhor republican Dick Cheney and his conservative politics, his words about trump are as true as any words that he has ever spoken: “In our nation’s 326-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost his election, and lost big. I know it, he knows it, and deep down I think most Republicans know it.”

There never has been a “deep state” bent on bring trump down, but if there were, it would have been a “deep state” led by republicans.

    • Fred says:

      David,

Please remind us all how the Senate majority leader can steal a Supreme Court seat. Of course if Christine Beasley Ford (conveniently removed from Google search autofil) had just come out with her “evidence ” when you know who was up for confirmation as a judge for the US Court of appeals for the District of Columbia things would have been different. I wonder why she and her true believers thought that lifetime appointment was ok.

    • powderfinger1 says:

“They seem to believe that because trump is a former president that he is above the law.”

Trump is not above the law. But there are precedents and protocols. There seems to be a consensus, even among opposition lawyers, that this type of raid is a “last resort” measure. There many glaring examples of other politicians doing worse with documents who never saw an FBI goon squad.

“This was a search carried out by a judge’s 0rder. There would have had to be compelling evidence of wrong doing before the judge signed the warrant.”

You mean like the FISA warrants? Someone lost their credibility a long time ago.

“Mitch McConnel stole his SCOTUS seat”

If I remember right, the democrats didn’t have enough votes to confirm Garland. Why bring it to a vote? Most democrats cry foul when their own hardball politics are used against them. Suck it up buttercup.

“so that he could pack the Supreme Court”

You must mean fill vacant seats. I don’t recall the court being expanded. As for hardball, see my previous comment.

” with radical-right ideologues bent on ending women’s constitutional right to an abortion.”

Search the Constitution for the word abortion. I’ll wait.

“have they forgotten that FBI director Chris Wray is a trump appointee?”

Trump can blame himself for this one. Stupid is as stupid does.

“While I abhor republican Dick Cheney and his conservative politics, his words about trump are as true as any words that he has ever spoken”

Dick Cheney is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the Republican party and an example of why I will never consider myself a Republican. Don’t listen to the devil and you wont go hell.

“There never has been a “deep state” bent on bring trump down”

Nod, nod, wink, wink. Wake up and smell the coup d’état. There has been a concerted effort before, during and after Trump’s presidency to discredit, then remove and now disqualify him. The bogus dossier funded by HRC, the all but illegal FISA warrants, the FBI investigations based on the dossier, the media collusion, the manipulation of hearsay information for impeachments and now finally this. If that’s not deep state, I’m not sure what is.

“but if there were, it would have been a “deep state” led by republicans.”

      Ya got me there.

      • DAVID+C+KISSINGER says:

DCK, yep, the REPUBS blew it in 2016. Have had to ride it out with a loser Trump since: one of the few seated Presidents to lose reelection, lost the House, lost the Senate, lost RED state Ga 2 Senators.

Now, Trump is pushing forth a new batch of loosers for 2022: like Oz in Oh (OMG, lol) , Dixon for Mi Gov (“14 yr old should not be allowed abortion”), brain dead Walker in Ga….. and a bunch of other wacko MAGA in Pa, etc!

    • Deap says:

There is no US constitutional right to an abortion. You would need to add that by amendment.

Your statements are intentionally misrepresenting the merits of this case? It was not an “abortion” case. Never was. States can allow all the infanticide they want. That was the issue -who makes this decision when there is no express grant of power within the four corners of the federal US Constitution.

Strict constructionists are not “radical-right ideologues”. They are strict constructionists. They were the badly needed back on the bench to help this country regain its balance and conform to its true constitutional roots.

” US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart, who issued the warrant, gave the Justice Department until 5 p.m. Aug. 15 to respond to a request to unseal the records from conservative transparency group Judicial Watch.”

So sealed by the judge, meaning it is illegal to release without the judge’s approval. That would make it a crime for Trump to release it. Glad I could help you out Al.

          Fred,

Whether it’s on this post of yours or one of the other two I as well attempted to clarify for our Al that, yes, the warrants were sealed. Too the info I got came as well via the NYP.

Your mentioning Judicial Watch’s involvement however wass a new one for me so, thanks. And after reading your link I dug a little for corroborating purposes and came up with this:

“They would not give her [Trump’s lawyer – jk] the search warrant,’ he claimed. ‘So they showed it to her from about 10 feet away. They would not give her a copy of the search warrant.”

“To date, despite the immense public interest in the search, the public, including The Times, has been prevented from accessing any court records related to this search warrant, including the warrant itself. Southern District of Florida practice is typically to seal search warrant matters at least until the warrant is executed, but not in perpetuity….”

“For warrant records to remain under seal a court must determine, in clearly articulated findings, that the government established a specific, compelling interest justifying an ongoing seal that is no broader than necessary to serve that interest.”

          • Fred says:

I do not need enlightenment nor did I quote Judicial Watch. I spent 1 minute on google to find the article and quoted it. Please stop excusing the in individual who has decided to act like a troll rather then engage in open discussion.

      • Glenn Fisher says:

No Al, you are incorrect. The warrant was sealed and was not provided, not was an itemized list of seized evidence.
So unless you have links to the article that says otherwise please spare us the lectures on the legal workings of the search warrant and how it’s “likely” something happened, all without the benefit of any actual facts n such.
